Position Type: Internship / Seasonal (Fall–Spring Hockey Season)
Reports To: Team Broadcaster & Social Media Coordinator
Position Overview:
The Broadcast Intern will assist the Fayetteville Marksmen communications team by providing live, real-time game coverage across digital platforms. This intern will help keep fans connected by live-tweeting, updating scores, clipping highlights, and supporting in-game digital storytelling. The ideal candidate has a passion for hockey, quick communication skills, and the ability to deliver accurate, engaging updates under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide live in-game updates on X/Twitter and other platforms.
- Post real-time score updates, goal alerts, and key play highlights.
- Clip and upload video highlights for social media and digital use.
- Collaborate with the broadcast and social media teams to ensure consistent coverage.
- Support post-game content distribution (final score graphics, highlight reels, etc.).
- Maintain accuracy and professionalism while representing the Marksmen brand online.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Journalism, Broadcasting, Sports Management, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of hockey terminology, rules, and gameplay.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with an eye for detail.
- Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines during live games.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok).
- Experience with video clipping/editing software (Adobe Premiere, iMovie, or similar) is a plus.
- Availability on all home game days
Additional Information:
- This is designed to provide hands-on experience in sports communications and broadcasting and can be used for in-class credit if applicable.
- Interns will gain valuable real-world experience in live sports coverage and build a professional portfolio.
- Nights, weekends, and holiday availability is required.
