Pay Range:                           The pay range for this role is $ $18.45 – $22.00 per hour

Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Position Overview
Sharks Sports and Entertainment is seeking a passionate, determined individual to help create exceptional and unique entertainment experiences for our fans. The Mascot Performer will play the role of Frenzy, Mascot of the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL. The Mascot Performer is responsible for efforts to drive revenue and increase brand awareness for the Sharks Sports and Entertainment, all while entertaining our fans, customers, and audiences. In this role, the mascot performer will play a key role in multiple aspects of the San Jose Barracuda brand by making memories, developing new fans, impacting the community, and using their talents working with all functional groups within the Sharks Sports & Entertainment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform as San Jose Barracuda mascot, Frenzy for appearances, team events, and home games contingent upon completion of necessary training 
  • Costume upkeep and maintenance as needed, prop and costume creation
  • Work with Digital Team to manage all Frenzy social accounts and community efforts on the San Jose Barracuda Social Handles 
  • Assist event presentation in creation, implementation, and execution of in game programming, entertainment, and activations 
  • Inter-departmental mascot needs within Sharks Sports and Entertainment 
  • Maintain inventory of all props, costumes, mascot merchandise, etc., and work with the organization to place orders for needed items 
  • Brainstorm and implement creative elements, including but not limited to: in-arena content, in-game entertainment, sponsor opportunity, and mascot skills 
  • Assist in the building and fostering of community relations on behalf of the Barracuda
  • Work with marketing and partnerships team to fill any beneficiary-related needs such as specialty jersey auctions, volunteer coordination, and management of the DASH platform
  • Assist in sourcing, scheduling, and monitoring of Frenzy appearance and community request forms (including in-game fan visits)
  • Monitor and drive sign-ups for the Frenzy of Frenzy kids club
  • Coordinate the management of Street Team on Barracuda home game days

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a related role
  • Available to work all Barracuda home games and other community events as needed 
  • Previous experience as semi-pro or professional mascot necessary. College mascot experience a plus Ability to use independent judgement and discretion to make implement decisions after evaluating various courses of action 
  • Due to costume sizing, candidate must be at least 5 feet 7 inches and not more than 6 feet 2 inches. Must also weigh between 165 and 225 lbs. 

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand and utilize a computer for extended periods of time
  • Communicate via phone and email with a variety of individuals
  • Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 15 lbs with or without accommodation
  • Physically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events with or without accommodation
  • Ability to work occasional extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays (all with advance notice)
  • May be required to travel to other company locations  
  • May be required to attend conference, events, and training sessions within Bay Area or in- or out-of-state locations.
