PAY RANGE:                          The pay range for this role is $23.86 per hour.

Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
 
Position Overview:
 
The Youth Hockey Coordinator is responsible for helping develop and maintain our Youth Hockey programs to grow the game of hockey in Northern California. They provide administrative and operational support to the Youth Hockey Manager and Hockey Department in furtherance of the organization’s goals of providing exemplary training and development opportunities for participants, while meeting the financial objectives of Sharks Ice.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Helps to create, promote and manage the youth hockey programs at Sharks Ice at San Jose under the direction of the Youth Hockey Manager. 
  • Execution of the following programs:
    • Little Sharks Learn to Play Program. 
    • Sharks Play On (Bridge Series) continuation program – Next step in youth hockey journey.
  • Assist with the transition of new participants from Little Sharks, “Give Hockey-A-Try” clinics or Learn to Skate/Play programs to organized hockey teams/leagues.
  • Assists the Youth Hockey Manager with administering youth hockey leagues, events, tournaments, jamborees throughout the calendar year.
  • Assists with the development of promotional programs and materials to market the Sharks Ice at San Jose facility, its programs and events, working closely with the San Jose Sharks Marketing function to leverage in-arena, radio, TV, cable, Internet and collateral materials employed by the organization.
  • In conjunction with the Youth Hockey Manager, assists with the on-ice development, off-ice communication Serve as a liaison between the Northern California Youth Hockey Association (NORCAL) and the Sharks organization.
  • Facilitate grassroots goaltending development initiatives to foster skill acquisition and passion for the position among youth hockey players.
 
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ work experience in sports; community relations and youth marketing preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and juggle numerous priorities and projects and to meet deadlines without sacrificing effectiveness.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • It is imperative that you have the ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative.
  • Clean DMV record and ability to pass a standard background examination.
  • Establish and maintain rapport within and outside of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to maintain cooperative relationships with other departments and employees.
  • Must have an upbeat outgoing attitude and outlook on work.
  • Previous experience working with or a desire to work with children a plus .
  • High degree of creativity and/or originality as it pertains to taking a program from strategy to execution.
  • Knowledge of the game of hockey as well as our athletes and team.
·         Ability to skate and stand on skates while giving instructions for long periods of time.
  • Excellent computer skills; knowledge of Adobe design programs.
  • This job will likely require you to work shifts outside of SSE’s typical business hours. With advance notice, you may be scheduled to work evenings, weekends, and events as business needs may require.

Ability to sit, stand and utilize a computer for extended periods of time
Communicate via phone and email with a variety of individuals
Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 15 lbs with or without accommodation
Physically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events with or without accommodation
Ability to work occasional extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays (all with advance notice)
May be required to travel to other company locations  
May be required to attend conference, events, and training sessions within Bay Area or in- or out-of-state locations.
