Pay Range: $32.00 – $33.50 per hour
Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
Position Overview
The Marketing Automation Coordinator is part of our Integrated Marketing group and supports our vision to pioneer the future of sports and entertainment. Under the direction of the Marketing Platforms Manager, this role will support the design and deployment of San Jose Sharks, SAP Center at San Jose, Sharks Ice facility, and San Jose Barracuda marketing communication campaigns (including email, SMS, and app messaging) and data capture initiatives. This position will also be involved in campaign analysis and reporting and the creation, development and execution of Integrated Marketing campaigns.
The role will work closely within Integrated Marketing and our Business Intelligence group to maximize the functionality of our current marketing automation workflows, execution and technology, while also suggesting areas of improvement and innovation. They are a key player in fan-facing messaging, responsible for developing, curating, and consistently implementing brand voice, tone, look and feel across all marketing communications. They will also collaborate with almost every part of the organization and should be comfortable working cross-functionally in a rapidly changing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Compose and execute email marketing and SMS messaging campaigns to communicate key information to targeted audiences and support revenue growth across all properties.
- Own and maintain marketing communication calendars with key stakeholders across Sharks Sports & Entertainment, including the Sharks, SAP Center, Sharks Ice, Barracuda, Tech CU Arena, and other organizational initiatives.
- Support the development and optimization of omni-channel lifecycle and automated customer journeys, including onboarding, retention, re-engagement, and event-driven communications.
- Analyze and report on campaign performance, including conducting A/B tests to validate hypotheses and deliver actionable insights that inform future campaigns, segmentation, and journey strategies.
- Ensure effective fan communications and enhance the overall fan experience through elevated, engaging, and relevant marketing and service messaging across all fan touchpoints.
- Work within and across all Sharks Sports & Entertainment departments to assure a timely and accurate delivery of communications, ensuring consistency in brand voice and messaging.
- Develop copy and proofread communications for clarity, quality, grammar, and spelling
- Improve and enrich the Sharks Sports & Entertainment marketing databases with cross-organizational lead generation and growth initiatives.
- Build customer segmentation and prospect lists for campaigns based on multiple persona criteria.
- Assist in Integrated Marketing campaign concept ideation, development, strategy, execution, and analysis.
- Partner with Business Intelligence to help maintain database quality, including marketing subscription lists, customer records and updates, identifying data gaps, data appends, and data hygiene processes such as NCOA and Do Not Call compliance.
- Availability to staff gamedays, shows, and/or ancillary events for promotional activations.
- Other Tasks and Projects as business dictates and requires.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience or relevant course work in marketing, with email and SMS marketing is a strong plus
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required

- Exhibit a positive attitude, coachability and exceptional work ethic
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and solve problems effectively with minimal supervision
- Flexibility to work weekends, nights and holidays as required by schedule of events.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand and utilize a computer for extended periods of time
- Communicate via phone and email with a variety of individuals
- Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 15 lbs with or without accommodation
- Physically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events with or without accommodation
- Ability to work occasional extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays (all with advance notice)
- May be required to travel to other company locations
- May be required to attend conference, events, and training sessions within Bay Area or in- or out-of-state locations.
