Pay Range:                          The pay range for this role is $68,480 - $76,000  per year

Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors such as transferable skills, work experience, market demands and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Position Overview
The Manager of Conversion & Ice Maintenance is responsible for overseeing all aspects of event changeovers, ice maintenance, and rink-related operations at SAP Center. This position ensures seamless transitions between hockey games, concerts, family shows, and other events, while upholding the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and guest experience. The role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on operational expertise to manage staff, equipment, and resources effectively in a fast-paced, multi-event venue.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Event Conversion Management
    • Plan, direct, and oversee all event conversions, including hockey-to-concert, concert-to-hockey, and other venue transformations.
    • Develop detailed conversion schedules and staffing plans to ensure timely and efficient turnarounds.
    • Coordinate with Event Services, Engineering, and other departments to align operational needs with event requirements.
  • Rink and Ice Operations
    • Oversee all aspects of ice installation, maintenance, and removal, ensuring optimal playing conditions and compliance with NHL standards.
    • Supervise ice resurfacing operations, including scheduling and training Zamboni operators.
    • Maintain detailed records of ice conditions, maintenance schedules, and related equipment service.
  • Staff Leadership and Training
    • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise a team of conversion and rink operations staff.
    • Implement ongoing safety and technical training programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and venue safety protocols.
    • Foster a team-oriented work culture with an emphasis on accountability and operational excellence.
  • Equipment and Facility Oversight
    • Manage the operation, upkeep, and repair of conversion and rink equipment, including forklifts, staging, dasher boards, and ice-resurfacing machines.
    • Coordinate with Engineering to ensure preventive maintenance and timely repairs.
    • Maintain accurate inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Budgeting and Administrative Duties
    • Develop and manage departmental budgets, tracking labor and material costs.
    • Prepare post-event reports and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years of experience in a related role or discipline
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong understanding of event conversion processes, ice operations, and venue equipment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with scheduling, budgeting, and inventory management software.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand and utilize a computer for extended periods of time
  • Communicate via phone and email with a variety of individuals
  • Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 15 lbs with or without accommodation
  • Physically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events with or without accommodation
  • Ability to work occasional extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays (all with advance notice)
  • May be required to travel to other company locations  
  • May be required to attend conferences, events, and training sessions within the Bay Area or other in- or out-of-state locations.
