Position Summary:

The Seattle Kraken Media Relations Department is seeking responsible and dedicated Journalism, Mass Communications and Public Relations professionals to be a part of the department’s game-night staff.  

Candidates will work during select Seattle Kraken home games in the press box.  

Overview:

Each home game, the Kraken Media Relations Department utilizes a small game-night team. The members of this team assist the Media Relations Department with various tasks as listed below. 

The ideal candidate is expected to maintain a professional demeanor at all times and display appropriate behavior around professional athletes, celebrity guests, and high-profile clients. You will be representing the Seattle Kraken culture and brand! 

  • Tasks include:
    • Working with members of the local and national media
    • Assisting in the distribution of in-game information
    • Distribution of credentials
    • Obtaining and transcribing post-game quotes from team locker rooms
    • Compiling notes from the game and more 

Shifts are typically six hours, beginning two hours before the game and ending one hour post game.  

This position is open to both recent grads and current students. 

Ideal Candidates:

  • Understand the nuances of working in a professional sports environment
  • Should be working towards a career in communications
  • Possess strong writing and communication skills
  • Demonstrate responsibility, punctuality and dependability

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment; handle multiple tasks with the ability to reprioritize and shift priorities quickly.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented, resourceful, quick learner, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.
  • Must be a fierce communicator and cross-organizational collaborator.  

Total Rewards Package:

Compensation:

  • In accordance with Washington’s Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the starting pay rate for this position is $20.76/hr. Actual pay will depend on employee’s experience and other job-related factors permitted by law
  • Overtime eligibility

Working Conditions:

Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required. 
This position may require the individual to have access to confidential records and information. To successfully perform this position, the confidentiality of the information with which the individual has contact must be maintained. 
Frequent bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs.
