Position Summary:

The Jr Kraken Tier I Development Coach will be responsible for leading the planning and execution of practices, games, and serve as a player development coach for all facets of the program. This will include collaborating with all Kraken programs run at the Iceplex, including Fall and Winter, Spring development, and Summer camps. As a player development coach, you will help drive revenue to the Kraken Community Iceplex through skill development classes, group classes, LTP classes, camps, and clinics.

KYHA stands by the mission to grow the game of ice hockey in the Pacific Northwest by having the most-powerful programming that develops athletes, lifelong hockey players, and fans. Through cutting edge curriculum, excellent role models, and endless amounts of positive experiences at the rink, a emphasis will be placed on the growth of player development with a positive, inclusive, and fun environment through a championship standard. Works with Kraken Youth Hockey Director and staff to ensure a positive experience for all players and community members.

This role is based on-site in our Seattle office and requires work to be performed in person. However, we do value flexibility as the business will allow, and offer occasional opportunities to work from home.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Head Coach Tier I program
Mentor and develop athletes to thrive in a high level and challenging environment
Program administration for general scheduling, travel scheduling, and parent/player communication
On and off ice coach to support year-round Kraken programs: spring development, summer camps, as well as fall and winter programming
Video analysis and game breakdown
Maintain continuous coach development and up-to-date teachings
Perform all responsibilities in the best interest of the Seattle Kraken brand
Maintain good attendance and punctuality
Other duties as assigned

Required Experience & Qualifications:
Must work in a team first environment and follow KYHA hockey philosophy
Create high performance developmental-focused practice plans according to the organization’s day to day
Exceptional leadership skills and communication skills
Current network of contacts at the collegiate and Tier II junior levels to support player advancement
Ability to work within a budget
Ability to plan productive practices and conduct video sessions
Ability to manage assistant coaches, strength coaches, and goaltending consultants
Communicate with players, parents, and members of the community
Have USA Hockey CEP and complete required SafeSport Training
Standard background check
Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Word, Power Point, & Google Docs
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
Extremely organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.
Must be a fierce communicator and cross-organizational collaborator.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
Previous coaching and/or playing experience at the professional, collegiate, or junior levels
Understanding of ice rink events and association on and off ice programming
3+ years work experience

Compensation:
In accordance with Washington’s Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the expected salary range for this position is $67,725 –70k. Actual base pay will depend on employee’s experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Working Conditions:
Based on-site in our Seattle office and requires work to be performed in person.
May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required
Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs.
