Climate Pledge Arena is the complete redevelopment of an historic landmark, originally built for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. Sitting at the base of the Space Needle on the Seattle Center campus, the arena is home to the NHL’s Seattle Kraken, WNBA's Seattle Storm, and the world's biggest performers of live music and events. Seattle Arena Company, a division of Oak View Group (OVG), privately developed and now operates Climate Pledge Arena. OVG based in Denver, Colorado is a global leader in facility development, management, hospitality, and sales. Climate Pledge Arena is named after The Climate Pledge, an initiative founded by Amazon and Global Optimism asking global corporations to become net zero carbon by 2040. We have one of the most progressive sustainability programs of any arena our size, including being the first and only arena in the world to achieve the International Future Living Institute’s first Zero Carbon Certification.
Position Summary:
The Facility Supervisor will manage the maintenance and repair in the areas of building maintenance. Duties include a variety of skilled work including installation, remodeling, repair, alteration, roof, carpentry, wall finishes, ceilings, flooring, equipment, doors and locks.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the successful completion of 50 NHL games, 20 WNBA games, 13 PWHL, 80 major music/entertainment events, and 25 miscellaneous events each year.
- Lead, guide, and/or train Facilities department in applicable procedures and techniques.
- Implement a training program for the maintenance department, and verify staff is completing these programs.
- Manage and oversee that all work completed by the team is done correctly and efficiently, providing coaching as needed.
- Perform daily detailed building and grounds inspections and report issues to our CMMS online work order system.
- Able to prioritize jobs effectively and communicate with staff on the plans to follow through on them.
- Recommend and hold Compliance to help implement an effective P.M. program for all equipment within the Facilities department.
- Responding to all service calls and verifying completion while on duty.
- Maintain, repair, organize, tools and related equipment.
- Assist in required weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual required building inspections, and institute required corrections and/or Preventative Maintenance systems and schedules as needed.
- Work with subcontractors and vendors to obtain quotes, service contracts, and project management.
- Promote a safe working environment for all employees by following the life safety and emergency program as needed.
- Obtaining required permits, equipment, tools, and materials for projects.
- Testing and troubleshooting systems.
- Aids during emergencies.
- Coordinate the operations activities with other building departments and show-related contractors.
- Repair and maintain doors, locks, overhead doors, dock equipment, bollard, barriers, drywall, wall panels, carpet, tile, roof, window shades, concrete, equipment, and other surfaces.
- Perform other duties as assigned and as needed to assist in the management of responsibilities associated with the facility.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and report to the Chief Engineer with the records and recommendations for repair solutions and possible programs.
- Able to read blueprints.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must have thorough knowledge of building repair and maintenance.
- Able to work both independently with minimum supervision and in a team atmosphere.
- Organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
- Able to effectively interact with customers, field staff, co-workers and vendors.
- Flexible and able to work with constantly adjusting schedule, priorities, and responsibilities.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Extremely organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.
- Exceptional experience in leading, motivating and developing employees.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, and hold staff accountable. Able to report any issues to the Chief Engineer.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent, 2-year Technical accreditation preferred.
- 5 years’ experience in property and/or facilities maintenance.
- 1-2 years of Construction Management.
- Experience with large-scale events in a stadium or concert setting of a similar size (18,000 seats) is highly desirable.
Compensation:
- In accordance with the Washington State Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the expected base pay range for this position is $30.00 – $34.00. Actual base pay will depend on employee’s experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
- This is an non-exempt role
Working Conditions:
- Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.
- Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs.
