Position Summary
The Toronto Sceptres are seeking a Director, Hockey Operations & Team Services who is passionate about delivering exceptional care and operational excellence to support our players, coaches, and hockey operations staff. This hands-on role oversees all team travel, logistics, and day-to-day services while ensuring compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. You'll travel with the team throughout the season, manage complex itineraries, coordinate player transitions and relocations, and create an environment that prioritizes player well-being and on-ice performance. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive professional with deep hockey operations experience who thrives in fast-paced environments and is committed to advancing women's professional hockey.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage and communicate training and travel itineraries for all players and staff, including air travel, transportation, accommodations, meals, and logistics
  • Accompany the team on all road trips, overseeing transportation, accommodations, and meal logistics to ensure seamless operations
  • Serve as primary contact for travel agencies and vendors, troubleshooting issues and identifying proactive solutions
  • Track player and staff expenses and per diem for road games; submit accurate team expense reports in a timely manner
  • Plan and execute pre- and post-training and game day meals, ensuring proper delivery and setup for players and staff
  • Implement Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) provisions related to travel, relocation, training services, and player appearances
  • Manage transition and relocation of new players, including housing arrangements, travel, and transition services
  • Organize administrative and immigration paperwork including visas, passports, insurance, and legal/medical documentation
  • Collaborate with team dietician on appropriate meals, snacks, and supplements 
  • Develop comprehensive welcome packages for visiting teams with venue details, local information, and logistics
  • Plan and execute team-related events during season and off-season
  • Coordinate with coaching staff to create and distribute team schedules for practices, games, and meetings
  • Oversee special team events, promotional activities, and sponsor functions in collaboration with business operations
  • Manage team-related purchases within budget and handle billing, budgeting follow-ups, and payment inquiries
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of team and player spaces
  • Support player and staff complimentary ticket requests for home and away games

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in hockey operations management or team services role
  • Knowledge of performance needs for professional athletes
  • Knowledge of game day operations, including team and ice-level requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Intrinsically motivated self-starter with excellent standards of professionalism when interacting with athletes
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel with the team throughout the season, including attending all games, practices, and required events

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional hockey experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working with Collective Bargaining Agreements and implementing CBA provisions
  • Budget management experience in sports operations environment

Flexibility & Travel
This role requires full-time travel with the team throughout the season, including all road games. Candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule with irregular hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
