Position Summary
The Toronto Sceptres are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Venue Merchandise Specialist to support merchandise operations across gamedays, venue retail, and community events. This hands-on role is essential to delivering an exceptional fan experience through seamless inventory management, engaging visual merchandising, and outstanding customer service. You will work closely with the Merchandise Event Lead, gameday staff, and third-party partners to ensure all merchandise operations run smoothly from stockroom to sales floor.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage full lifecycle of merchandise inventory including receiving, organizing, counting, and tracking shipments
- Maintain accurate inventory systems, perform cycle counts, and reconcile discrepancies
- Support gameday operations by replenishing product in real-time and ensuring merchandise areas are properly stocked and displayed
- Train and support part-time vendor staff on product knowledge, customer service, and upselling strategies
- Serve as merchandising liaison to venue sales team to ensure best-in-class game day execution
- Maintain visual displays according to planograms and collaborate on in-venue signage and marketing
- Assist with merchandise pop-ups at external community and youth hockey events
- Provide post-game recap reports with observations and recommendations for process improvement
- Enforce stockroom best practices and maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, military experience, or equivalent
- Proven experience in inventory management, retail operations, or venue merchandise management
- Familiarity with inventory management and point-of-sale (POS) systems
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs regularly and perform physical stockroom tasks
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and game/event days as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary coursework in business, retail management, or related field
- Experience in sports, entertainment, or high-volume retail environments
- Experience training or supervising part-time/event staff
- Interest in supporting women's professional hockey and community engagement initiatives
- Proficiency with specific POS or inventory management platforms
Flexibility & Travel
Candidate must be able to work on-site with regular evening and weekend availability to support gamedays, events, and community activations. Some local travel will be required for off-site merchandise events.
