The Professional Women’s Hockey League is seeking an experienced and passionate individual to fulfill the Strength and Conditioning Coach position for PWHL Vancouver. The successful candidate will be immersed in a multidisciplinary environment where strong communication and interpersonal skills among various healthcare professionals will prove to be an asset. The primary objective of the Strength & Conditioning Coach position is to optimize the on-ice performance of all athletes by implementing a multi-faceted program that integrates best practices in training, sport science and recovery.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work cohesively with the integrated support team (IST) members such as athletic therapists, mental health performance practitioners and nutritionists, to address the holistic performance and wellness of each athlete
- Communicate and plan with team coaches to best serve active roster players as well as reserve players
- Design individualized training plans for players based on their physical performance profile, injury history, position, and goals
- Create and implement progressive rehabilitation programs for injured athletes in partnership with the medical team. This may include both pre and post-operative interventions
- Utilize performance-based technology to extract meaningful insights related to training, wellness and on-ice performance. Clearly communicate findings and related performance-improvement strategies to athletes, coaches and IST members
- Attend all team practices, games (home & away), and team events
- Lead warm-up and cool-down routines at both practices and games
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Undergraduate degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a related field is required
- Master’s Degree in Kinesiology or a related field is strongly preferred
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in high performance environments such as professional sports, national team programs, or with collegiate athletes
- Hockey experience is an asset
- Valid CPR or First Aid equivalent
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, and game/practice days
- Ability to travel internationally as well as work evenings and weekends
SKILLS, ABILITIES & OTHER ATTRIBUTES:
- Effective communication skills
- Effective planning and time management skills
- Experience with spots science technologies such as force plates and athlete monitoring systems
Salary Range: $72,000 – $90,000 CAD
