Position Summary
The PWHL is seeking a dynamic Talent Acquisition Specialist to build and execute recruiting strategies that attract exceptional talent to women's professional hockey. Supporting a high-growth league currently at approximately 350 employees and positioned for significant scaling across the US and Canada, you'll manage substantial hiring volume as we build our team for the future while maintaining continuous recruitment for natural turnover. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape the talent foundation of a transformational league at a pivotal moment for women's sports. The ideal candidate brings proven recruiting expertise, creative sourcing strategies, and a passion for advancing opportunities for women in professional athletics.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Execute full-cycle recruitment for all PWHL positions spanning league operations, team operations, and player-facing roles
- Manage high-volume recruiting cycles to support organizational growth and scaling initiatives
- Develop and implement proactive sourcing strategies to build robust talent pipelines for current and anticipated hiring needs
- Partner consultatively with hiring managers to define position requirements and ideal candidate profiles
- Source passive and active candidates through LinkedIn, TeamWork Online, job boards, networking, direct outreach, and creative recruiting tactics
- Screen candidates, conduct initial assessments, and coordinate comprehensive interview processes
- Manage offer processes including negotiation support and offer letter preparation in collaboration with hiring managers and generalist
- Design and deliver engaging onboarding experiences that drive new hire success and cultural integration
- Build and promote PWHL employer brand through social media, career site content, and recruitment marketing
- Track recruiting metrics and analytics to optimize processes and demonstrate hiring effectiveness
- Maintain applicant tracking system integrity and ensure compliance with EEO requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of full-cycle recruiting experience with track record of successful placements across diverse roles
- Demonstrated expertise with applicant tracking systems and recruiting platforms
- Advanced Boolean search and sourcing capabilities, including strong LinkedIn Recruiter proficiency
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with ability to engage candidates and hiring managers
- Strong organizational abilities with proven capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Data-driven approach with experience tracking and analyzing recruiting metrics
- Demonstrated success building diverse talent pipelines and inclusive recruiting practices
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to accommodate candidate availability and hiring timelines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience recruiting in professional sports, entertainment, or high-visibility industries
- Background in employer branding and recruitment marketing initiatives
- Experience with cross-border recruiting (US/Canada) and knowledge of applicable employment regulations
- Bilingual capabilities (English/French)
- PHR or similar HR certification
Flexibility & Travel
Candidate must be able to work in a fully remote capacity with flexibility for evenings and weekends as needed to support candidate schedules and peak recruitment and onboarding periods. Occasional travel for career fairs, networking events, and team site visits may be required.
