Position Summary 
The PWHL is seeking a Senior Manager, Social Media to lead the league's social strategy and platform execution. This role shapes and evolves the league's social presence, bringing the PWHL brand, its athletes, teams, partners, and fan community to life through best-in-class, social-first storytelling. Reporting to the Director, Content, the ideal candidate is a highly collaborative and forward-thinking social strategist who translates ideas, insights, and league priorities into impactful social content that strengthens fan connections, amplifies key initiatives, and grows the PWHL's presence and influence across platforms.  This posting is for an existing vacancy. The pay range for this position is $85,000 to $90,000 USD/CAD annually. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities 
  • Own the league-wide social media strategy and calendar, aligning with brand, marketing, and business objectives. 
  • Define the role of each platform within the broader content ecosystem, ensuring cohesive fan journeys and platform-native storytelling. 
  • Lead strategic planning for tentpole moments including season launch, marquee matchups, Takeover Tour, Playoffs, Draft, Awards, and major campaigns. 
  • Oversee day-to-day publishing, programming, and optimization of league social channels. 
  • Lead real-time coverage for high-priority moments including live games, breaking news, and cultural opportunities. 
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Social Media Coordinators, fostering a high-performance, collaborative, and growth-oriented team culture. 
  • Own the league's community engagement strategy across social platforms, balancing proactive fan interaction with thoughtful moderation. 
  • Work cross-functionally with Communications, PR, Community, Partnerships, and team Social Media Managers to integrate narratives and ensure alignment. 
  • Define KPIs and success metrics across platforms and translate performance data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations. 
  • Stay ahead of platform updates, emerging trends, and innovations to continuously evolve strategy. 
 
Required Qualifications 
  • 5-7 years of experience in social media or digital content, preferably in sports with live event coverage. 
  • Demonstrated experience creating a multi-platform content calendar and strategy. 
  • Advanced knowledge of social editing and design tools, including Adobe Creative Suite, Slate, CapCut, etc. 
  • Deep understanding of social listening tools, analytics platforms, and content management systems. 
  • Experience managing and developing team members in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. 
  • Expert knowledge of social platforms, trends, and fan behavior. 
  • Strong written communication skills with meticulous attention to grammar, style, tone, and editorial quality. 
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, and willingness to travel frequently. 
  • This position may be based in either the United States or Canada. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in their country of residence on a full-time basis. 
 
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Strong understanding of the women's sports landscape and a passion for advancing visibility and storytelling in the space. 
  • Experience leading social media for a brand or organization with a global audience. 
  • Experience collaborating directly with athletes, talent, or influencers on content development. 
  • Background in launching or scaling social channels for emerging brands or leagues. 
  • Experience integrating brand partnerships and sponsored content into social storytelling authentically. 
  • Creative instincts with an eye for design, video, and emerging content formats. 
 
Flexibility & Travel 
This is a remote role requiring flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by event and season schedules. Frequent travel is required.
