The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) is seeking an experienced and result-driven Senior Manager, Ecommerce to lead the digital merchandising and operational performance of the Shopify storefront for official league merchandise. Embedded within the Merchandise Team, this role is responsible for translating product strategies into a compelling and seamless ecommerce experience. The manager oversees all ecommerce operations, from site functionality and product merchandising to campaign execution and performance tracking, while closely partnering with merchandise planning and marketing to drive growth and fan engagement. This role will report to the VP, Merchandise.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Shopify Store Management 
  • Own and manage the Shopify storefront, ensuring an intuitive, high-performing shopping experience. 
  • Oversee product setup including descriptions, categorization, variant logic (e.g., sizes, colors), and tagging.  
  • Coordinate weekly and seasonal updates to ensure alignment with merchandising calendars. 

Merchandising & Product Strategy Alignment 
  • Partner with Merchandise Planning to execute seasonal product assortments and launch timelines. 
  • Translate physical merchandising plans into digital execution strategies (e.g., collection curation, navigation updates). 
  • Monitor product sell-through and initiate markdown or promotional opportunities in coordination with planning. 

 Campaign & Marketing Collaboration 
  • Work closely with the Marketing Lead to align promotional calendars, campaign priorities, and launch timing. 
  • Coordinate onsite promotional content (e.g., homepage banners, landing pages, collection highlights). 
  • Ensure product storytelling aligns with league events, athlete moments, and fan engagement initiatives. 

UX, Conversion Optimization & Site Functionality 
  • Conduct A/B tests, analyze conversion data, and optimize user flows to improve performance. 
  • Maintain a mobile-first, accessible, and frictionless experience across devices. 
  • Identify, triage, and manage bugs and technical issues, collaborating with internal or external developers as needed. 

Technical Oversight & Enhancements 
  • Manage Shopify theme customizations, app integrations, and third-party tool performance. 
  • Recommend new features or tools based on industry trends and performance needs. 
  • Document technical workflows and manage change logs for site improvements. 

Customer Experience & Administrative Oversight 
  • Supervise the Ecommerce Site Coordinator, who supports customer service and product uploads. 
  • Ensure customer-facing information (size guides, policies, shipping timelines) is accurate and helpful. 
  • Monitor customer feedback and escalate site or product concerns when needed. 

Analytics & Performance Reporting 
  • Track ecommerce KPIs: sales, conversion rate, bounce rate, traffic, AOV, and product performance. 
  • Deliver weekly and seasonal reports with insights and optimization recommendations. 
  • Use data to inform future merchandising and campaign strategies. 

Logistics & Fulfillment Coordination 
  • Collaborate with the logistics or fulfillment partner/team to ensure timely processing and shipping of ecommerce orders. 
  • Monitor order flows, backorders, and shipping exceptions; escalate issues impacting customer experience. 
  • Coordinate with fulfillment teams to prepare for high-volume periods (e.g., product drops, playoffs, or league events). 
  • Ensure site communications (e.g., shipping timelines, cut-off dates, inventory availability) reflect actual operational capabilities. 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years of ecommerce experience, including 2+ years managing a Shopify storefront. 
  • Apparel merchandising or consumer product background strongly preferred. 
  • Experience collaborating with planning and marketing teams in a fast-paced, seasonal sales environment. 
  •  Strong understanding of Shopify, ecommerce UX, and digital merchandising principles. 
  • Analytical mindset with experience using Google Analytics, Shopify reporting, and ecommerce dashboards. 
  • Proven ability to manage direct reports and work cross-functionally with technical and creative teams. 
  • Passion for women's sports, fan culture, or lifestyle branding is a plus. 

Salary Range: $87,500 USD to $104,000 USD ($105,000 CAD to $125,000 CAD)
