Position Summary 
The Motion Graphics Designer contributes to the development and execution of all motion graphics design for the league and its 12 teams, with a focus on building strong and compelling brand experiences across the PWHL ecosystem. This role is responsible for creating engaging 2D and 3D motion graphics for all PWHL brands across all channels including social, digital, in-venue, and broadcast platforms. 
The Motion Graphics Designer is tasked with translating the excitement, competitiveness, and momentum of the PWHL into impactful motion design and storytelling that engages the audience and elevates the league's brand. This role collaborates closely with the Creative team to further develop the PWHL's visual identities and drive fan engagement through creative content. The Motion Graphics Designer also partners with all internal departments to bring business objectives, league initiatives, and campaigns to life in the most effective way. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities 
  • Design and animate engaging 2D and 3D motion graphics for distribution across all platforms, including social media, digital platforms, in-game entertainment, and broadcast. 
  • Create unique content to engage with fans, with a goal of generating revenue, including promotional assets for ticket sales, partnership assets, merchandise sales, and more. 
  • Conceptualize and execute video opens and endplates, titles, bumpers, lower thirds, fan prompts, cross-promotion and partnership activations, transitions, animations, and video effects. 
  • Conceptualize and execute creative ideas to integrate into long-form, short-form, and one-off visual projects. 
  • Enhance the in-venue and fan experience by creating entertaining and impactful motion graphics that tell the brand story and align with brand standards. This includes full arena buildouts for all venues. 
  • Tailor visuals to league and team special events and initiatives as needed. 
  • Help drive innovative brand evolution through motion graphics and design. 
  • Assist in concept development, storyboarding and pitches, as well as project management and art direction. 
  • Approach motion graphics creation with a creative eye. 
  • Collaborate with the creative team and other internal stakeholders, including video production, fan experience, and event presentation. 
  • Other tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned. 

Required Qualifications 
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of professional experience in motion graphics, working for a sports or entertainment organization. 
  • Proficiency in 3D application, preferably Cinema 4D, 3DS Max, or Blender. 
  • Strong design background with advanced knowledge of After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Premiere. 
  • Strong ability to integrate 3D elements into video and motion graphic productions. 
  • Expert understanding of motion graphic development. 
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. 
This position may be based in either the United States or Canada. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in their country of residence on a full-time basis. 

Preferred Qualifications 
  • Knowledge of hockey preferred. 
  • Understanding or experience in live event production a plus. 
  • Experience contributing to brand systems and evolving visual identities.

  • Comfortable working independently and collaborating with a team. 
  • Exceptional design aesthetic (typography, composition, etc.) and awareness of design trends. 
  • Proactive problem solver and open communicator. 
  • Comfortable working independently on multiple projects at once with tight deadlines.
