Position Summary
The Seasonal Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Minnesota Frost supports the delivery of high-quality medical care focused on injury prevention, immediate response, rehabilitation, and overall player wellness during the 2026-2027 season. Reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer and working in collaboration with the sports medicine team and Team Physician, this individual provides practice and game-day coverage, athletic training room support, and administrative assistance as assigned. The term runs from November 1, 2026 through May 31, 2027. This is a seasonal position expected to conclude on May 31, 2027, with no guarantee of renewal or extension. This posting is for a newly created position. The pay range for this position is $33.30 USD/ per hour.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide coverage for assigned practices and games, including sideline and athletic training room support.
- Cover skating sessions and coordinate care for non-traveling players while the team is on the road.
- Recognize, evaluate, and treat acute, chronic, and emergent injuries and illness on the ice, on the sideline, and in the athletic training room.
- Assist with game preparations and game-day operations.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of all daily athletic injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training.
- Recognized by the Board of Certification (BOC) as a certified Athletic Trainer.
- Licensed and in good standing, or eligible to become licensed, by the Minnesota Board of Athletic Training.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt, take direction, and work collaboratively within a team setting.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong time-management skills.
- Commitment to working in compliance with applicable health and safety standards.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and as required by the game and practice schedule.
- This position is based in the United States. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The PWHL does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Athletic Training.
- Experience providing athletic training coverage in elite hockey at the professional, major junior, or college/university level.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and/or Sports First Responder certification.
Flexibility & Travel
This position requires the ability to work on-site. Minimal travel may be required.
