Job Summary:
This is a unique opportunity to join the Professional Women’s Hockey League and be a part of building a successful professional league. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, positive and resilient to join our Minnesota Frost team. As a valued member of sports medicine team and under the direction of the team General Manager, Head Athletic Trainer, and Team Physician, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist and collaborate with the Sports Medicine staff to deliver high-level care to Minnesota Frost athletes. This will include providing occasional sideline coverage to assigned practices as well as providing athletic training room coverage. Please note this is a per diem independent contractor position with variable hours and days.

It is anticipated that this role will work on average 25-30 hours/month from December 2024-May 2025 with some month’s demands higher than others. This position requires some work in the evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities:
Duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer or Assistant Athletic Trainer 1 will include but not limited too:

Provide coverage to assigned practices and potentially some games
Cover skating sessions for non-traveling players while the team is on the road
Recognize, evaluate, and treat acute, chronic, and emergent injuries and illness both on the ice, sideline, and in the athletic training room
Assist with game prep and game day operations
Complete appropriate documentation of all daily athletic injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation
Other duties as assigned

Education Required:
Bachelor's degree or Master’s degrees in Athletic Training (Master's Preferred)

Qualifications:

Recognized by the Board of Certification (BOC) as a certified athletic trainer
Licensed and in good standing or eligible to become licensed by the Minnesota Board of Athletic Training
Current BLS CPR certification
Minimum of 2 years of certified athletic training experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adaptable within a team setting
A positive, team-first approach, incorporating integrity, accountability, professionalism and resilience
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Adhere to all PWHL service standards and policies including Health & Safety while working in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
