Founded in 1967 as one of the NHL's first expansion teams during the league’s original expansion from six teams to twelve, the Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the most prestigious brands in sports. Job Summary:
The Pittsburgh Penguins are seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented and solutions-driven Project Manager to join our Marketing and Creative Services team. The Project Manager will be responsible for the development of projects through the Creative team from ideation through production, tracking the stage and location of each project and delivering final production-ready files, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.  

This role will work closely with marketing, ticketing, partnerships, sales, digital and other departments as needed to manage project workflow and partner on creative development.  

The ideal candidate is someone who can work independently, while juggling multiple projects and collaborate with stakeholders from all parts of the organization. They should be able to step into key meetings and contribute updates to leadership. The nature of this job requires the organization, agility, strategic vision, adjustments on the fly, and the ability to react quickly just like the sport of hockey. Familiarity with project management tools like Asana is important.

This job requires a flexible schedule including work outside of normal business hours including weekends, evenings and some holidays based on the established team schedule. In addition to a standard 40-hour work week, availability for games, events, and other projects is expected.  
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead project planning defining stakeholders, scope, deliverables, dependencies, key resource needs, milestones and keys to success.
  • Manage the workflow of projects coming to the Creative Services and Marketing team, assigning project leads and setting deadlines for various campaigns.
  • Build and maintain workback schedules, trackers and task assignments in Asana for delivery of campaign assets.
  • Communicate regularly with task owners and cross-functional partners to provide updates, feedback and other updates impacting the project or campaign.
  • Keep stakeholders aligned and informed with clear and timely updates.
  • Identify roadblocks or conflicts and propose solutions.
  • Set brainstorms and internal meetings for creative projects as needed.
  • Develop campaign recaps and meeting agendas for weekly updates to leaderhips on progress. 
  • Sample campaigns the candidate will oversee include monthly marketing campaigns, ticket on-sale, partnership asset creation, Pittbburgh Penguins Hall of Fame campaign
  • Other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, business or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of professional experience in a marketing operations, project coordination or project management role preferably within a sports organization, in-house marketing team or advertising agency. 
  • Expertise in utilizing and building within project management software like Asana.
  • Proven expertise working within multidisciplinary teams and delivering innovative, on-brand creative solutions.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate concepts and strategies effectively.
  • Powerpoint and/or Canva expertise in how to articulate concepts in a concise manner to key leadership stakeholders.
  • Base-level knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and project management tools like Asana and Workfront.
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in sports, entertainment, or team-oriented organizations is highly valued. Advertising or Creative agency experience is also highly valued.
  • Passion for sports and a strong understanding of hockey culture and fan engagement.
