Position Overview
The Senior Director of Strategy & Analytics will lead the development and execution of data-driven strategies that fuel the Pittsburgh Penguins' business growth, operational efficiency, and fan engagement. This executive will oversee enterprise-level analytics and strategic planning across ticketing, marketing, partnerships, digital, and venue operations, ensuring the organization is leveraging insights to drive decision-making and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Serve as a thought partner to executive leadership, guiding long-term strategic planning and corporate initiatives.
  • Identify emerging trends and market opportunities to shape organizational growth strategies.
  • Lead cross-functional strategic projects with a focus on innovation and impact.
Analytics & Business Intelligence
  • Build and manage a centralized analytics function that supports departments including ticketing, marketing, sponsorship, and digital.
  • Design and implement frameworks for performance measurement, forecasting, and data visualization.
  • Oversee data infrastructure, ensuring accurate, accessible, and secure data systems.
Revenue Optimization
  • Analyze and model pricing strategies, fan segmentation, and consumer behavior to optimize ticket sales, memberships, and corporate partnerships.
  • Develop predictive models for demand forecasting, churn prevention, and campaign effectiveness.
Fan & Market Insights
  • Oversee research initiatives to understand fan sentiment, behaviors, and engagement drivers.
  • Use data to inform fan experience enhancements and personalized engagement strategies.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with IT, marketing, ticketing, and other internal teams to align strategic and analytic priorities.
  • Present insights and recommendations directly to executive leadership and ownership.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Data Science, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in strategy, analytics, or consulting roles—preferably in sports, entertainment, or consumer-facing industries.
  • Demonstrated success in leading analytics teams and managing large, cross-functional strategic initiatives.
  • Strong expertise in data analytics tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Python/R).
  • Deep understanding of ticketing, fan engagement, and digital marketing analytics in a sports context.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for sports and the mission of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
