Location: PPG Paints Arena, 1001 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15219
Status: Paid Internship, Part-Time, In-Person
Schedule: Flexible scheduling within 15–20 hours per week, including availability during day and evening hours, as well as weekends and game days as needed.
Compensation: $10/hour
Overview
The Graphic Design Intern will assist primarily with graphic design and marketing projects. This internship provides hands-on experience in sports design and will include opportunities to support ongoing design projects, maintain graphic templates, prepare photography for use in graphics, and develop design work within established brand standards and campaign guidelines.
The intern will work closely with the Creative team and will gain experience working within the sports design environment while contributing new ideas and perspectives to the team.
Key Responsibilities
Graphic Design & Marketing
- Assist with ongoing graphic design and marketing projects.
- Assist with the design and maintenance of graphic templates.
- Work within brand standards and campaign guidelines while bringing new ideas to the table.
- Deliver final design products in a quick and orderly fashion.
Digital Assets & File Management
- Assist with the organization of files, including tagging and cataloguing images.
- Assist with player cutouts and treatments of photos in preparation for use in graphics.
- Maintain organized design assets and files.
Creative Development
- Develop an understanding of the sports design environment.
- Contribute new ideas to ongoing design projects.
- Maintain attention to detail while working efficiently through both execution and ideation.
- Support the Creative team with additional design projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Applicants should have completed at least two years of college or demonstrate equivalent education, training, or relevant experience in a related field.
- Ability to work in person at PPG Paints Arena.
- Availability to work 15–20 hours per week.
- Pursuing a degree in graphic design, digital media, or a related field.
- Comprehensive understanding of the basic principles of design.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
Preferred Skills
- Ability to work within an established brand while keeping creative work fresh.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to execute quickly and efficiently.
- Strong hockey knowledge and familiarity with the NHL and Pittsburgh Penguins.
- Experience with sports design, marketing, or related creative work.
Penguins Internship Program Information

Application Review: Applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis and reached out with initial communication by Friday, October 30th, at the latest.
Anticipated Internship Term: January 11th, 2027 - April 16th, 2027
Course Credit: Students remain eligible for earning course credits for their internship and will be responsible for ensuring that the internship meets the criteria of their program and/or university.
For the Graphic Internship: Media assets and created pieces can be used by the intern for educational and non-profit, self-promotional purposes.
