About the Role:  | SS&E is looking for an associate who is passionate about growing figure/ice skating in Middle Tennessee at the newest Ford Ice Center! This position will be responsible for all day-to-day operations of the skating department to grow, diversify, and progress the next generation of figure/ice skaters. Duties will include coordinating and administering various youth and adult focused ice-skating development programs both on and off the ice including Learn to Skate, Freestyle Sessions, Go Skate, and more!

Job Responsibilities: 
  • Assist in creating and executing a comprehensive plan to market and grow ice skating in Middle Tennessee, while meeting goals and objectives set by supervisor.  
  • Develop, implement, administer, promote, market and program all phases of the USFS Learn to Skate group lesson program for the general public. 
  • Work to bring Figure Skating competitions and programs to the Ford Ice Center to assist in the growth of Figure Skating. 
  • Oversee, develop, and instruct skating events, seminars, courses, and training sessions. 
  • Implement, administer, and program all skating and figure skating camps, clinics and recitals. 
  • Keep accurate attendance records, develop lesson plans as well as evaluate and assess skill level and progress of all participants.  
  • Curate, engage, develop, and manage Ford Ice Center’s figure skating coaches. 
  • Schedule, implement and program freestyle sessions. 
  • Collaborate with the Ford Ice Center to establish positive coaching relationships with all staff. 
  • Provide building support., as necessary, as manager on duty. 
  • Promote a culture of professionalism and respect while supporting skaters in their development and success. 
  • Assist others within the Ford Ice Center organization to promote the facility. 
  • Other related duties as assigned. 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
  • Four-year (4) degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Business Management or a related field from an accredited college or university. 
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience actively overseeing skating programs.  
  • Professional Skaters Association Membership & USFSA Membership. 
  • Extensive skating and coaching background with understanding of a Learn to Skate Programming. 
  • Knowledge of USFSA Basic Skills and ISI programs. 
  • Work well with staff and clientele to establish a positive atmosphere. 
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Scheduling. 
  • The selected candidate must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. 
  • As a condition of employment, qualified applicants will be subject to a background check, including a criminal history check, driving history and character references.  
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, possess a suitable driving history and be insurable by SS&E’s insurance carrier (without conditions). 
 
Essential Physical Requirements: 
  • Occasional heavy lifting/ moving of items up to 50 lbs. 
  • Ability to work and endure multiple hours on an ice surface and ability to ice skate.  
  • Exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, and loud noise. 
  • Excellent speaking and listening skills, requiring the perception of speech. 
 
Equipment Used: 
  • Including, but not limited to office equipment, barcoding scanner system, industrial equipment, hockey equipment, ice resurfacing equipment and scoreboard equipment. 
  • PC based desktop/laptop (Microsoft Office) 
  • Multiline phone system
