Overview:
The Director, Business Strategy and Analytics is responsible for leading the Business Strategy and Analytics team day-to-day to develop data based strategies and measure KPIs across the organization’s NHL, Arena, and Sabertooth Sports & Entertainment business units.

The Director of Business Strategy and Analytics will drive business intelligence reporting & analytics to support strategic planning for ticket sales, sponsorship, marketing and other future growth efforts of the Organization.

Additionally, the Director will lead and develop the Business Strategy department team members; proactively engage in cross-departmental meetings as a point person of Business Strategy & Intelligence within the Organization and help drive development of the department at large to accomplish Organizational needs. The Director of Business Strategy and Analytics will report to the Vice President of Business Strategy

Responsibilities:
  • Manage department team members day-to-day.
  • Lead and manage the strategic functions of business intelligence reporting, customer database, CRM, data acquisition, and analytics for the Organization.
  • Lead the development, preparation, and distribution of the organization’s enterprise-wide reporting portfolio including finance, ticketing, sponsorship, marketing, and operations.
  • Spearhead data and business intelligence as a face of the department, proactively collaborating with stakeholders to manage priorities on data initiatives to provide guidance for all business units.
  • Work with departments to identify reporting and automation needs to develop solutions, including dashboards and other outputs, which provide real-time performance tracking to ranging levels of organizational leadership.
  • Collaborate directly with Ticketing and Sponsorship teams on the development on pricing and revenue models. 
  • Collaborate directly with Finance and Accounting team to prepare reporting needs used for current revenues and financial planning projections.
  • Collaborate directly with Marketing teams to help report and optimize marketing strategies.
  • Ensure clear communication with applicable stakeholders to explain strategy and track outstanding items requiring resolution.
  • Help Lead the development of the department at large including leadership of staff, recruiting, and leading the build out of the Business Strategy department as an ‘internal agency’ with verticals supporting across the organization.
  • Oversee analytics team to design measurement, reporting, automation and optimization mechanisms to evaluate and help drive the strategy and success KPIs of Organization initiatives.
  • Develop skill sets of direct reports by exposing them to advanced research and reporting methods, leadership skills and overall business prowess.
  • Work across departments to develop and communicate best practices in data gathering and use.
  • Develop and support complex analytical processes and procedures to identify risks and opportunities throughout the business.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all data warehouse, CRM, and other business intelligence and analytics vendors and/or service providers.
  • Ensure data integrity across all systems
  • Deliver ad-hoc projects, analysis, and other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in special projects or other related duties as requested.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent experience in Data Analytics, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or similar analytical field
  • 5+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, strategic planning, with minimum 3 years in sports industry
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, including significant SQL and database management experience, and proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Experience with data visualization, preferably Tableau.
  • Experience with Ticketmaster Archtics data or other ticketing system data preferred.
  • Experience with integrating and developing CRM systems, Microsoft Dynamics preferred.
  • Experience with KORE software data products preferred.
  • Experience in Predictive modeling techniques (R/Python) such as regression analysis, customer profiling and segmentation, needs analysis, and other types of quantitative and qualitative campaign analysis techniques.
  • Acute attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot apparent data discrepancies.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to interface effectively with multiple levels of management, ranging from senior executive to business unit managers and third parties.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
