JOB TITLE:        Head Athletic Trainer
LOCATION:      Minot, North Dakota
Start Date:       Immediately
REPORTS TO: General Manager & Head Coach

The Minot Minotauros of the North American Hockey League are seeking to fill a vacancy for the position of athletic trainer, This position is intended for experienced and entry-level candidates who are seeking experience at the Junior Hockey level working with an athlete-centered performance care model. This position delivers athletic training services to the NAHL Minot Minotauros Hockey Team.  

Athletic trainer is expected to manage potentially catastrophic, acute, and chronic athletic injuries within the scope of practice for athletic training, to include rehabilitation and return-to-play decisions. In addition, this position is expected to collaborate with team physicians provide by Trinity Health.

This is a 12-month, full-time, benefits eligible position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

~ Responsible for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of

injuries and illness suffered by players within the organization.

~ Responsible for updating and communicating with General Manager and Coaching Staff regarding player injuries, conditions, and recovery timeline.

~ Provide first aid and emergency care services to athletes.

~ Design rehabilitation programs for athletes, assist and monitor injured players as they heal and progress towards recovery.

~ Maintain records related to athletes’ condition, training, and treatment plans.

~ Assist in filing and processing insurance documents.

~ Maintain detailed budget and inventory ordering, maintenance, and restocking of supplies.

~ Assist with game day preparation.

~ Represent the Minot Minotauros at various community and team functions.

~ Other duties as assigned.

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

~ Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or a related field from an accredited university; Master’s degree is preferred

~ Must be recognized by the BOC as a Certified Athletic Trainer, with valid state license or certification.

~ Emergency Cardiac Care Certification

~ License in Massage Therapy preferred

~ Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

~ Background/license in strength and conditioning training preferred

~ Strong interpersonal and communication skills needed to develop and maintain positive, respectful relationships with all members of the Minot Minotauros Organization.

~ Must possess valid driver’s license.

~ The successful applicant must complete a full background screen.

 

ABILITIES & SKILLS:

~ Ability to maintain effective relationships with strong interpersonal and communication skills with management, league officials, facility representatives, fellow employees, and the general public.

~ Familiarity with all standard athletic training equipment, included but not limited to ultrasound therapy machines, electrical stimulation therapy machines, hydrotherapy tanks, and microcurrent stim therapy machines.

~ Detail oriented.

~ Analyze and solve problems independently.

~ Work in high intensity, competitive, and deadline driven environment.

~ Understand, adhere and enforce safety procedures.

~ Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, etc).

About the Minot Minotauros:

The Minot Minotauros are in our 15th season in the North American Hockey League.  In that time, we have missed the playoffs only twice and made two Robertson Cup Final Four appearances while moving well over 100 players on to the NCAA level.
