Front Office Internship—Business & Game Day Operations
The Maryland Black Bears hockey team of the NAHL seek energetic, hardworking, and motivated individuals responsible for aspects of day-to-day business and game day operations that incorporate all marketing assets controlled by the team. These assets include, but are not limited to, traditional signage, hospitality, social media, promotional giveaways, experiential opportunities, community platforms and special events.
On Game Days, this person will ensure smooth execution of operation plan, staffing volunteers and predetermined paid contractors to ensure games run smoothly for players, coaches and staff. Additionally, this person will train game day staff as needed. Create new ideas to increase attendance and fan interaction, involvement and participation during the game. Ensure all partnership/sponsor elements are fulfilled. This position reports directly to the President.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute the 'big picture' promotional calendar events while simultaneously addressing game-to-game details
- Staff games for Maryland Black Bears (MBB)
- Serves as liaison between MBB and arena management and personnel (GM, rink personnel, volunteers, concession operator, etc.)
- Help with group tickets through lead generation, solicitation, and service at arena. Focus on large groups, schools, youth hockey orgs, etc.
- Serve as a potential point of contact for youth sports teams and community non-profit for fundraising opportunities
- Manage set up and tear down of all game day elements pertaining to guest experience and partnership fulfillment
- Develop, implement and execute all game day operations including intermission contests, permanent and temporary signage installation and removal, concourse activities, pre-game ceremonies, and post-game activities
- Edit & finalize PA announcer script for MBB game days, incorporating sponsors and partner messaging
- Prepare & distribute hotel/restaurant info packets to visiting teams (NAHL)
- Arrange & supervise local school visits involving players, coaches, staff, etc
- Main contact for any outside performance or activities taking place on game days
- Point of contact for NATV (NAHL Subscription Streaming Service) broadcasts
- Other Duties as Assigned
Intern(s) hired for this position will be an integral part of creating a positive fan experience, completing day-to-day operations, and helping the team, coaches, and staff in numerous ways. MBB home schedule runs for 28 games September through March, with the potential for additional playoff games April-May
Applicants for this position can ONLY be compensated through school credits at an accredited institute of higher learning. Staff are available to complete necessary paperwork, conduct evaluations, etc. as required by the school and/or advisor. This likely necessitates applicants enrolled currently or in the near future with few exceptions.
