We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Coach to join our team for the upcoming 2025-2026 hockey season. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of elite junior hockey players within a competitive and supportive environment.

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs are a proud Tier II junior ice hockey team competing in the North American Hockey League's Midwest Division. We are committed to fostering a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and player advancement, both on and off the ice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Coach with all aspects of team operations, including practice planning, on-ice instruction, and game strategy.
  • Work directly with players on skill development, individual improvement, and tactical understanding.
  • Contribute to scouting and recruitment efforts, identifying and evaluating prospective players.
  • Assist with video analysis, breaking down game footage for player and team improvement.
  • Support team travel logistics and day-to-day administrative duties as assigned.
  • Foster a positive and disciplined team environment, emphasizing teamwork, accountability, and character development.
  • Engage with the Fairbanks community and represent the organization professionally at all times.

Qualifications
  • Strong passion for and comprehensive knowledge of ice hockey, including current strategies and player development techniques.
  • Previous coaching or elite playing experience at the junior, collegiate, or professional level.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in video analysis software and other relevant coaching tools.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow professionally.
  • Ability to travel extensively with the team.
  • Experience with player recruitment and scouting is preferred.
