President, Minnesota Major League Volleyball - $150(K) - $200(K) Annually
As part of a new and growing franchise, the President will launch the team’s brand identity in our local and professional volleyball communities. Playing a pivotal role in building and driving marketing, revenue optimization, and volleyball operations from its inception. This role requires a proactive, adaptable leader with the ability to drive change and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
The President will be the organization's top executive, overseeing daily operations, including, but not limited to, revenue generation, volleyball operations, and marketing. A strategic leader with experience in launching, building, and operating a minor, professional, or collegiate sports franchise is expected.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Organizational Leadership: Manages and oversees various departments such as marketing, public relations, advertising, volleyball operations, ticketing, and corporate sponsorship sales.
- Volleyball Operations: Manage the General Manager while assisting when needed with coaches, athletic trainers, and physicians. Align and assist the General Manager in building a championship-caliber team while maintaining financial discipline and organizational professionalism.
- Strategic Planning: Develops and implements business strategies to expand the team's brand and market reach.
- Financial Oversight: Responsible for the financial health and profitability of the team, focusing on revenue generation and cost management.
- Revenue Generation: Drives income through multiple channels, including ticket and sponsorship sales, season ticket and group sales packages, and merchandise.
- Brand Marketing: Oversee all aspects of brand management and public relations efforts, driving the organization’s market positioning, visual identity, and storytelling to ensure a robust, consistent, and emotionally resonant brand across all channels.
- Community & Public Relations: Act as the primary ambassador for the team within the local and professional volleyball communities, fostering partnerships with civic leaders, media, and community organizations.
- Fan Engagement: Working to increase attendance and engagement by ensuring a positive experience for guests while creating and overseeing the execution of strategic plans that align with the team's sales and marketing objectives, while also addressing the unique dynamics of the team’s brand.
- Arena Operations: Work with the arena leaders and concessions to manage game day operations, staffing, and technical coordination to ensure seamless event execution.
- Governance & Stakeholder Relations: Serve as one of the Governors on behalf of Minnesota MLV. Work closely with ownership and investors to establish organizational goals, monitor performance, and ensure operational excellence.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the organization and the league office.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Formal Education & Certification:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Has served as a Vice President or General Manager within a sports organization, specializing in sales, marketing, and/or administrative roles. Strong business and leadership skills are required; a passion for sports, combined with knowledge of volleyball operations, is ideal.
- At least ten years or more experience in a professional, minor, or collegiate sports environment.
- Experience in launching and operating in a professional, minor, or collegiate sports market is preferred.

- Flexible schedule and willingness to work unusual hours and perform multiple tasks (nights and weekends) to meet the demands of the volleyball schedule.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including internal staff, club personnel, and other external partners and vendors.
- Highly effective in working with diverse teams and influencing decision-making across the organization.
- A continuous learner, staying on top of trends in the sports industry and business operations to bring fresh insights into the team.
Work Conditions:
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed for games and events.
- Travel as needed for the games and conferences.
- Physical requirements include sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, lifting, grasping, etc.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
