Mascot Assistant - $20.00 per hour 

The Mascot Assistant, Level Three supports the Minnesota Wild mascot program by serving as a backup performer, managing event logistics, and acting as the primary liaison during appearances. This role includes crucial behind-the-scenes responsibilities such as equipment setup, administrative tasks, and direct fan engagement. It plays an essential part in maintaining the mascot’s high-quality presence and ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for fans at games and events.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Act as the backup performer as needed for Minnesota Wild games, Wild team-related events, private events, etc.
  • Assist in additional administrative duties such as organization of equipment, laundry, etc.
  • Assist in the execution of mascot event activations.
  • Set up and break down mascot equipment for home games and events.
  • Work in conjunction with the Manager, Mascot Operations to oversee a successful working partnership between the Minnesota Wild and independent event organizations and customers.
  • Act as the on-site liaison during mascot appearances.
  • Conduct all person-to-person communication with fans and guests on behalf of the mascot during games and events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Formal Education & Certification:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree, in Marketing, Performing Arts, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Mascot experience in college or another professional capacity preferred.
  • One year of game presentation or performance experience preferred.
  • Some experience working with college, minor-league or professional sports promotions or marketing.
  • Theater or acting training preferred.

Personal Attributes:

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multiple departments and initiatives.
  • Must be comfortable speaking in public with ability to be spontaneous when interacting with a crowd.
  • Fan friendly attitude and willing to initiate conversation with guests.
  • Ability to work within a team and a service-oriented environment.

Work Conditions:

  • Ability to ice skate or willingness to learn.
  • Mascot costume restrictions require performer to be 5’9”-6’1” in height.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be deemed insurable by the organization’s insurance provider.
  • Available to work primarily evenings, weekends and holidays, with daytime hours as needed.
  • Available to work 50% of all shifts, which includes Wild games and events.
  • Must attend a pre-shift meeting for each event as scheduled.
  • Must be able to stand for five hours at a time.
  • May be exposed to inclement weather conditions (year-round indoor/outdoor events).
  • Physical requirements include sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, lifting, grasping, etc.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
