Hockey Operations Analyst - $60(k) - $90(K) annually 

The Hockey Operations Analyst will play a key role in supporting both coaching and professional scouting staff by delivering tailored, statistics-based reports that inform pre-scouting, post-game analysis, and player evaluation. This position will also drive the organization’s broader data strategy by developing tools, creating visualizations, and ensuring efficient access to reliable information across departments. By combining technical expertise with hockey insight, the analyst will help integrate data-driven decision-making into all aspects of team performance and roster management.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Directly support coaching and scouting staff through tailored statistical insights and reporting.
    • Support coaching and professional scouting staff.
    • Support the NHL and AHL coaching staff by creating and distributing statistics-based pre-scouts and post-game reports.
    • Support the professional scouting staff by creating and distributing periodic reports on professional players at various levels.
  • Enhance the organization's overall use of data by building tools, collaborating across departments, and streamlining information access.
    • Work with all members of the Minnesota Wild Hockey Operations department to promote the use of statistics in decision-making.
    • Enhance the statistical usage of the organization by creating data visuals and other tools that will make consuming statistical information more efficient and effective.
    • Work closely with third-party data providers to ensure efficient information dissemination across the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Formal Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience coaching or playing hockey a high level preferred.
  • Experience working in a sports environment.
  • Experience with data visualization.
  • Strong understanding of the sport of hockey.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and languages, including SQL, R, Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.

Work Conditions:

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed for games and events.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, lifting, grasping, etc.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
