Social Media Manager: $65,000 - $80,000 annually 

Position Summary: The Social Media Manager leads the Minnesota Wild’s day-to-day social presence, turning brand and business priorities into creative, platform-native content that resonates with fans. This hands-on role oversees ideation, content capture, real-time coverage, publishing, community engagement, and channel management, including traveling with the team to capture and develop compelling stories. The ideal candidate is deeply fluent in social, has strong creative and interpersonal instincts, spots opportunities early, and can work independently while building trust across the organization.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Own day-to-day social content planning and execution across Minnesota Wild channels.
  • Lead social-first concepts from ideation through shooting, interviewing, basic editing, publishing, and community engagement.
  • Own real-time coverage of home and away games (as needed), making timely editorial and creative decisions as opportunities emerge.
  • Identify stories, moments, trends, and cultural opportunities that will resonate with Wild fans and new audiences.
  • Develop platform-native approaches across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Threads, and emerging platforms.
  • Support publishing and channel management across Minnesota Wild, Wild Gives Back, Minnesota Wild Pup, Wild on 7th, and Hockey Day Minnesota.
  • Collaborate across Hockey Operations, Public Relations, Video Production, Creative Services, Corporate Partnerships, Ticketing, Community Relations, and other internal teams to support organizational priorities and storytelling opportunities.
  • Use analytics, audience insights, and platform developments to evaluate performance and continuously improve the Wild’s social approach.
  • Provide day-to-day direction, feedback, and mentorship to social team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Formal Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

 

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Knowledge of hockey and the NHL is preferred.
  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability and willingness to quickly develop a strong understanding of the Minnesota Wild, hockey culture, and the State of Hockey.
  • At least four years of professional experience in social media, digital content, sports, entertainment, media, or a related field. 
  • Strong understanding of major social platforms, emerging channels, internet culture, and how audience behavior and creative expectations differ across each. 
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing original social-first content across multiple platforms. 
  • Strong copywriting, photography, videography, interviewing, and basic editing skills. 
  • Experience using social analytics and audience insights to evaluate performance and inform creative decisions. 
  • Experience providing direction, feedback, or mentorship to team members, freelancers, or creative partners. 
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or comparable creative tools. 
  • Experience with project management platforms such as Wrike preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable experimenting, learning from results, and evolving ideas over time.

 

Work Conditions:

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays based on games, events, and the NHL schedule.
  • Travel up to 60%, including away games (both domestic and international), league meetings, NHL events, and the Draft. 
  • Ability to work effectively in live sports environments where schedules and priorities can change quickly.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, lifting, and grasping. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
