Intern, Mascot Operations: $16.37 per hour 

Position Summary: The Intern, Mascot Operations works under the direction of the Manager, Mascot Operations to support the planning and execution of all areas of mascot operations. The role will serve as the lead handler for the primary performer and as the primary back-up performer for appearances. This position plays a key role in ensuring the mascot program delivers engaging, professional, and memorable experiences that strengthen fan connections and support the Minnesota Wild's community and organizational initiatives.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Assist the Manger, Mascot Operations in the day-to-day planning and execution of all program functionality.
  • Act as the lead handler for the primary mascot performer at all Minnesota Wild home games and key mascot appearances, when necessary.
  • Assume the role of the primary back-up performer, executing in-costume appearances, including but not limited to school shows, season ticket member events, community events, and corporate functions.
  • Assist with administrative duties such as email and phone correspondence, inventory management, costume maintenance, script writing, and general program coordination.
  • Attend meetings related to mascot responsibilities and represent the program’s interests in all related matters, when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Formal Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Business Administration, Event Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

 

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Previous experience as an NCAA Division 1 college mascot performer highly preferred.
  • Ability to handle interactions with fans and guests in a professional and service first mindset.
  • Proficient computer skills with ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

 

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Attention to detail and proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer service oriented and a willingness to help where, and when, needed.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

Work Conditions:

  • Mascot costume restrictions require performer to be 5’9”-6’1” in height.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be deemed insurable by the organization’s insurance provider.
  • Must be a strong ice skater, with experience skating in costume preferred.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed for games and events.
  • Work is primarily active in nature. 
  • Physical requirements include sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, lifting, grasping, etc., both in and out of costume.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
