WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU

SUMMARY
The NHL Security Department seeks a strong security professional who can lead the NHL Security Department’s special event security planning and operations. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker with strong attention to detail, well versed in operational planning, overall preparedness, and consequence management. Candidate will be expected to produce and implement strategy, procedures, granular security plans as well as complex integration with venue operators, government agencies, law enforcement, fire, and other public safety entities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Develop security procedures and plans to enhance the security operations, manage risk, and ensure vulnerability mitigation
  • Serve as the NHL Security Department lead planner through the entirety of events, including security operations and integration with internal NHL departments and external agencies
  • Coordinate security activities, including perimeter hardening, access control, and emergency response procedures
  • Conduct risk mitigation surveys at multiple locations and ensure ability comply with NHL requirements for arena and security in accordance with NHL Security Department policies
  • Maintain the NHL’s event security policy and oversee its implementation
  • Schedule and conduct liaison meetings with law enforcement, emergency management, fire safety, arena security management, event security management, and others as appropriate
  • Provide detailed security plans, briefings, and debriefs
  • Coordinate all mass gathering infrastructure support, security staffing schedules, magnetometer settings, x-ray placements, federal support, SEAR data coordination, and other associated activities
  • Supervise vendors and third-party personnel
  • Conduct other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Areas/Experience
Required
  • At least eight years of relevant experience with security planning, domestic security management laws and regulations, national security special events, and national preparedness
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in multijurisdictional security planning, intelligence, critical infrastructure protection, counterterrorism, and SEAR events
  • Demonstrated knowledge of national security special events process
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operating procedure development and the SAFETY Act

Required Skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products and ability to write strategic and operational plans as well as deliver presentations to large groups
  • Demonstrated comprehensive working knowledge of operational planning support, procedures, and practices
  • Must be willing to travel approximately 80-100 percent, both domestic and international
  • Must be willing to conduct work during both regular business hours as well as nights and weekends

SALARY RANGE:
 $125-150K
 
Actual base pay for a successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to: experience/training, market demands, and geographic location.
