WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
SUMMARY
This strategic role on the social media team manages day-to-day social media marketing, content development and publishing strategy in coordination with the marketing team to meet shared goals and support multiple areas of the NHL business.
This role specializes in social media execution to drive awareness, tune-in, ticket sales and merch sales for major NHL initiatives and events. Competitive candidates will demonstrate useful experience using both creativity and social data analytics to make key insights that shape organic and paid social strategy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead social media marketing efforts across the NHL’s channels to promote the NHL’s major events, initiatives, and innovation projects. These include, but are not limited to: All-Star, Winter Classic and additional outdoor games, Stanley Cup Playoffs and Final, plus digital fan engagement initiatives
- Plan organic social ticket sales strategy for NHL events in partnership with larger ticketing team
- Lead strategy and publishing efforts for the NHL Shop Instagram handle by working collaboratively with the consumer product licensing team and relevant merchandise brand partners to elevate their online community and drive sales and engagement for NHL CPL and Fanatics.
- Plan, develop, produce and distribute content to drive new and existing fans to tune into NHL games in coordination with social media teams of rights-holding broadcast partners
- Manage relationships between rightsholder social teams and the NHL social team
- Develop social content programs that drive fan engagement and NHL/partner success with NHL eSports, NHL Innovation Team (ADVs, Roblox, etc.) and other business development initiatives
- Lead the strategy for the NHL Instagram’s broadcast channels so they can be utilized as a lower funnel marketing tool
- Lead the social content promotion of NHL produced programs distributed off NHL channels
- Work collaboratively with internal data analytics team to assess the effectiveness of campaign strategies and present this data following each campaign
- Research innovative social media marketing strategies across sports and entertainment brands and use effective approaches to develop new techniques and strategies for engaging fans
- Seek out new fans in new places, including fans whose fandom might not draw a direct line back to live hockey but whose passion is undeniable, i.e. eSports
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Areas/Experience
Required
- 2-5 years of relevant marketing or social experience
- Outstanding communication and project management skills with the ability to constantly prioritize requests and tasks both internally and externally
- Proven experience developing content and social media strategies required to leverage social media to meet business goals and demonstrated ability to proactively communicate plans and recap the execution to measure success.
- Eager to seek out and receive feedback while remaining wide open to constructive criticism with consideration and confidence
- Excellent creative writing and interpersonal skills
- Must be very organized, a self-starter and resourceful
- Ability to think creatively, execute, and project manage across many touchpoints
Preferred
- Marketing or social experience working at a large, internationally recognized brand
Education/Certifications
Required Skills
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence at leadership levels
- Demonstrable proficiency in data analysis and assessment abilities

SALARY RANGE:
$80-90K
Actual base pay for a successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to: experience/training, market demands, and geographic location.
