Manager, Events

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
SUMMARY
This Manager of Events will lead the planning and coordination of various projects for the NHL Events Department. This role will be hands on with multiple tentpole fan festival events for all NHL Outdoor Games, NHL All-Star Weekend as well as operational roles for other League jewel events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Negotiate pricing and contract with various production vendors.
- Collaborate with NHL Events Department on Fan Festivals including: Attraction Development, Audio/Visual, Event Decor, F&B, Hospitality, Partner Obligations and Security.
- Work directly with league partners, sponsors and agencies in order to execute on-site activations at NHL Events.
- Manage / wayfinding various areas of event operations at Stanley Cup Final, NHL Draft and other
- League events including event transportation, directional signage & venue setup.
- Participate in event site reviews
- Provide fresh, creative ideas to enhance NHL fan events at NHL tentpole events
- Manage multiple event budgets
- Invoice reconciliation post events
- Manage NHL Asset Inventory
- Manage the NHL Mascot Program at NHL All-Star Weekend
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Areas/Experience
- At least 3-5 years of experience coordinating public events, preferably in the sports & entertainment industry
- Prior experience leading large scale fan events
- Prior experience managing operations in the fields of event transportation, directional signage / wayfinding and venue setup
- Prior experience collaborating with sponsors and their creative agencies to execute activations
- Ability to lead meetings and clearly communicate information to upper management
- Ability to collaborate with multiple internal departments including, but not limited to Partnership Marketing, Sales, Creative Services, Security, NHL Productions & Finance.
- Ability to work long hours, including weekends and holidays as well as travel to host event cities
- Must be able and willing to travel within the US and Internationally
- Experience working within sports, entertainment, media, or consumer brands is highly desirable
- Passion for hockey, sports, culture, and fan engagement is a plu
- College Degree required. Preferably in Sport Management, Sport Marketing or a related field.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to lead with a result driven, "can do" attitude with a focus on client service satisfaction
