WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
SUMMARY
The Manager, Business Development - Sponsorship Sales is responsible for assisting and leading the process to secure corporate sponsorships that generate new revenue across the league by leveraging the NHL’s marketing rights, calendar initiatives, community programs, media channels and the development of new assets & platforms. The Manager of Business Development will play a critical role in sales prospecting and outreach leading to a robust pipeline of qualified prospects interested in becoming official NHL partners.
Success in this role will be driven by a relentless & self-motivated work ethic combined with an obvious passion for sales and marketing. The person in this role will be ground zero for developing the pipeline that will lead to new sponsorship revenue.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Manager, Business Development - Sponsorship Sales will manage the day-to-day prospecting and pipeline tracking for sales across North America. The Candidate will lead research prospecting efforts and sales outreach to executive-level decision makers across viable sponsor prospects and categories. They will manage industry relationships with key stakeholders and work closely with internal departments to source, develop and package opportunities for new sponsors. They will be responsible for staying up to speed on market and industry trends. The Candidate will also lead new sponsor pitches alongside the VP of Business Development and other senior members in the department. To be effective, the Candidate must have strong business acumen and thrive in a team setting by effectively interacting with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Areas/Experience
Required
- The candidate will have a background in cold outreach sales and experience in packaging assets for B2B sales efforts for sports and entertainment properties. They will be persistent in the pursuit of new business prospects and capable of effectively communicating the NHL brand story we take to market. Superior presentation skills and communication skills are a must. As is attention to detail
- The candidate must be willing and able to approach new opportunities through ‘cold-calling’ clients, possess the ability to identify key business objectives across a variety of industries/companies and succinctly communicate how an NHL sponsorship can help achieve a prospect’s goal
Preferred
- The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 1-3 years sales experience (ideally selling a sports property or an agency) with a deep understanding of the sports and media marketplace with the ability to package omni-channel assets

SALARY RANGE:
$95-105K
Actual base pay for a successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to: experience/training, market demands, and geographic location.
