Legal Assistant

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
SUMMARY
The National Hockey League seeks a Legal Assistant to assist with player health management programs as well as litigation, labor law, corporate, and other legal matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Draft memoranda and surveys
- Perform research
- Track compliance on various initiatives, including communicating with NHL Club personnel
- Assist with document productions, transactions and/or closings as needed
- Update and maintain databases and spreadsheets to remain current
- Maintain master calendar of outstanding tasks on health and safety related projects and other areas
- Assist with preparation for meetings, hearings, and other matters
- Organize and manage electronic and paper files
- Process invoices and expense reimbursements
- Perform other related duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Areas/Experience
- Minimum two years in a similar role is required
- Ability to handle matters with discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team
- Ability to assume progressive responsibilities within assigned work as experience is gained in the position
- Ability to complete projects in a timely, efficient and effective manner, and to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong research skills as well as knowledge of relevant computer software programs (e.g., outlook, excel, powerpoint), with the ability to navigate electronic databases and document repositories
- Paralegal certification not required, but beneficial
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational and planning skills
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate close attention to detail and high level of commitment to quality work product
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends when necessary
