WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
SUMMARY
The National Hockey League is looking for our next class of interns to join our 2026 Summer Internship Program.
The NHL R&D team is seeking a summer intern to work on projects involving stat auditing, video analysis, and official event definitions. These projects include learning official rules and definitions, using video and other forms of data visualization to audit stats and events, and helping enhance the overall quality of the NHL’s data. Opportunities to work with the NHL’s Puck and Player Tracking data are available depending on the candidate's capabilities and interests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Audit and clean shot attributes for historical games
- Watch video and manually tag events, game sequences, and other specified moments of interest
- Write scripts to pull and analyze official and automated data
- Assist with enhancing event definitions for shots, passes, and area plays
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Areas/Experience
Required
- Possess an advanced understanding of ice hockey and a willingness to watch games on video
Preferred
- Experience with auditing, data-labeling, or manually tracking is a plus
Education/Certifications
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in an accredited university/college pursuing a Bachelor’s degree Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Technology, or a related field.

All of our internships are paid at $20/hour. WE DO NOT OFFER SCHOOL CREDIT.
