WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
SUMMARY
The National Hockey League is looking for our next class of interns to join our 2026 Summer Internship Program.
For the summer of 2026, the NHL Fan Engagement and Paid Media teams will welcome an intern to take on key tasks and responsibilities assisting with our day-to-day operation and contributing to important projects leading up to the 2026-27 season.
This intern will help bring a fresh set of eyes and new ideas to the creation of fan engagement programs, strategy of paid social campaigns, and overall promotional plans for all 2026-27 fan engagement initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct research on top performing fan engagement initiatives across NHL Clubs and other sports leagues
- Assist with ideation, development, and testing of digital fan engagement initiatives
- Consolidate and analyze AI chatbot responses and data from 2025-26 season
- Assess accuracy of AI chatbot responses and propose/identify areas of improvement
- Research new fan engagement activations scheduled for 2026-27
- Conduct research and provide insights into the current paid media landscape, including CTV, Addressable Audiences, New ad formats, and new audience media sites
- Assist with strategizing promotional plans for 2026-27 fan engagement programs
- Track & monitor SMS trends and content to inform best practices
- Help refine brand and marketing strategy for established Fan Engagement programs such as All Star Fan Vote, NHL GameZone, Bracket Challenge, and more
- Enhance and help standardize Fan engagement performance reporting and deliverables
- Coordinate with others within organic social, fan engagement, marketing and business development to share learnings regularly and apply directly to paid social outlets
- Gain knowledge and insight into the build and production of the NHL event app
- Monitor and identify compelling creative in paid social placements
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Areas/Experience
Required
- Understanding of the media and advertising landscape
- Basic excel knowledge
- Ability to conduct in-depth research and produce a final report
Education/Certifications
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in an accredited university/college pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

All of our internships are paid at $20/hour. WE DO NOT OFFER SCHOOL CREDIT.
