WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
SUMMARY
The Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing the following financial tasks associated with the Tentpole International and Domestic Events businesses of the National Hockey League.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director will be responsible for the following tasks:
Events
- Maintain the operating P&L files, including but not limited to ensuring the current projections and actuals are updated timely and accurately
- Manage the recording of ticket revenues by coordinating with the Events ticketing team to reconcile revenues and cash to the manifest, identifying the applicable sales tax and supervising the service fees reconciliation
- Manage the major expenses (e.g. venue settlements) while supervising all other expenses by working with business groups and tracking expenses on a real-time basis to ensure costs adhere to the approved budgeted amount(s)
- Review expense budget submissions while seeking cost efficiencies
- Build and manage event key deadlines and deliverables including post event Flash report
- Ensure event sub-schedules are updated and accurate post event
- Prepare analytical schedules and variance explanations for budget, forecast and year end close
General
- Responsible for ensuring a timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close; including accruals, recurring journal entries, reconciliations and variance explanations
- Manage, document and track the financial terms and obligations of relevant expense contracts
- Establish and manage relationships with both internal departments and external vendors
- Analyze current processes and identify opportunities to improve and maximize efficiency
- Review Operating files and invoice requests for validity and accuracy
- Provide support to external auditors as requested
- Perform Special projects/other miscellaneous and departmental related duties as assigned
Team Leadership
- Lead two (2) direct reports providing coaching and professional development
- Set priorities, role clarity, and phased workplans for the team
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Areas/Experience
Required
Individual selected for this position must have the following qualifications:
- 8+ years of relevant work experience including budgeting/forecasting and month-end close
- Ability to take initiative on problem solving and effectively manage multiple assignments, priorities and deadlines in a timely, efficient and effective manner, with attention to detail and commitment to a quality work product
- Self-motivated and organized individual with strong analytical skills
- Travel may be required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Knowledge of SAP4 Hana/SAC
Preferred
- Experience with event or project accounting is a plus
Education/Certifications
- Accounting or finance degree from a four-year college or university, preferred

SALARY RANGE:
$145-175K
Actual base pay for a successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to: experience/training, market demands, and geographic location.
