WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU

SUMMARY
The NHL Creative Service Department is looking for a talented Digital Designer to join our expanding team to support our growing demand for digital creative. As a Digital Designer, you will collaborate and take direction from senior creatives, assisting in creating graphics, images and templates to support the league's digital content across multiple departments and league initiatives.  
  
You should have a demonstrated understanding of digital design best practices, social media platforms, an acute eye for detail, layout, and typography. The candidate will have experience in digital production and have basic timeline animation skills. Knowledgeable of NHL Teams and Players, well organized, and comfortable working under tight deadlines. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Working alongside and taking direction from senior creatives, this designer will translate business objectives, concepts and information into visually compelling digital designs under tight deadlines.  
  • Works within established NHL Brand guidelines, while giving creative flair to the design assets.  
  • Ability to follow instructions, work in a group setting, as well as have their own conceptual skills.  
  • Builds an understanding of the strategy, audience and objectives behind design projects, delivering on-brand creative.  
  • Ensures the communication of a consistent brand image through design development and projects.  
  • Ensures all projects conform to required digital specs, quality standards and deadlines. 
  • Seeks opportunities to continually improve job skills.  
  • Works collaboratively with the Creative Service Team and stakeholders. 

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Areas/Experience
Required
  • Must have a minimum of 2-3 years of digital design experience. 
  • Must have a solid understanding of digital design principles, typography, design process and be knowledgeable of current trends.   
  • Should be strong with commonly used design software packages, Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate, InDesign, Acrobat, After Effects and other digital design-based design tools.  
  • A basic understanding of Adobe Firefly.  
  • Strong knowledge of digital production and best practices.  
  • Link to Portfolio samples showing recent and relevant work MUST be submitted for consideration.  

Preferred
  • Experience was gained preferably with an agency or in house design group, professional sports or entertainment background.  
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS and programing languages a plus.  
  • Experience in designing websites for multiple screens a plus.  
  • Knowledge of UI, UX, responsive and mobile design a plus.  


 Education/Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field.

SALARY RANGE:
 $70k
 
Actual base pay for a successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to: experience/training, market demands, and geographic location.
