SUMMARY
As a temporary Part-Time Coordinator, Social Media, this person will have access to the NHL's social media feeds and serve as one of the primary publishers during live in-game action and the daytime window. This role serves as the NHL's voice and behind-the-scenes personality, so the team member must seize the opportunity to entertain and engage with fans worldwide. This person will help drive conversation across social media platforms, sparking meaningful discussions through keen observation and playing a vital role in content creation and distribution.
This individual will be be self-motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic. They will possess excellent writing skills, be agile, able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously, and have outstanding attention to detail. The right candidate will have experience as a copywriter, knowledge of photo and video editing tools, and expertise in all things NHL. Flexible hours required and a strong work ethic is expected.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write copy and package content for publication to social platforms including X, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Reddit, and more.
- Ensure that all copywriting is grammatically correct and factually accurate.
- Contribute to developing the NHL's social persona and voice that fans associate with the League.
- Drive conversation across social platforms by engaging with fans, teams, players, partners, and more.
- Collaborate regularly with internal and external stakeholders on distribution strategy, including the NHL.com editorial team, NHL PR, NHL clubs, broadcast partners, and more.
- Expose and develop player personalities.
- Apply data and insights to publishing strategy and content development.
- Have flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required based on the game and event schedule and departmental scheduling needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years' experience in social media or content creation.
- Deep understanding of the ever-evolving social landscape with expert knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, X, and TikTok.
- Knowledge of emerging platform landscape is preferred (GIPHY, YouTube, WhatsApp, Threads, reddit, Pinterest, etc.)
- Excellent writing and verbal skills.
- Great attention to detail.
- Organized with the ability to reprioritize tasks consistently.
- Must have passion for hockey and extensive knowledge of the NHL, its teams, players, history, rules, etc.
- Applies an entrepreneurial approach to their work.
- Experience with photo, graphic, and video editing tools.
