Job Summary:  
The Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and The District Detroit creative team is seeking an experienced Associate Creative Director with a passion for sports and entertainment to act as an ambassador of some of the most valuable sports/entertainment brands in the world. We are dedicated to elevating the fan/guest experience through powerful storytelling, compelling content, and strategic media campaigns that connect with our community and fanbase in a meaningful way.

Essential Functions
  • Be the co-ambassador of quality & integrity for all visual elements across all owned/operated and partner platforms (representation of brands, logos, players/artists/events, key art, etc.)
  • Lead & execute 360 degree brand campaign projects; Host design workshops and brainstorm sessions for new creative campaigns
  • Creation of content/brand style guides and standards
  • Develop new concepts, designs, animations, logos and style frames.
  • Contribute hands-on to the project from design through development
  • Contribute to content strategy work with partner groups (digital/social programming, original content, podcasts, sponsored content, and more)
  • Oversee the creation of organizational presentations, internal/external pitches
  • Develop workable budgets, work plans and realistic timetables.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Minimum 7 years’ creative experience and 5 years leadership experience
  • 3 years management experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Media Arts, Design or equivalent education and experience.
  • Strong visual design skills across all mediums (typography, graphic design, motion design,
  • Strong portfolio equally showcasing conceptual thinking, visual design, and storytelling for major brands.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to articulate and persuasively sell creative concepts
  • Comprehensive awareness of new platforms, technologies, and trends in the industry across all operations.
  • Master of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite; Motion graphics, video editing, and/or 3D graphic experience a plus.
  • Previous cross discipline experience that covers interactive / experiential design, creative media arts, immersive and reactive environments, and narrative storytelling for multi-sensory physical experiences.
  • Possess the highest integrity and ethical standards
  • Ability to lead projects to ensure creative requests deadlines are met.
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible to shift between projects as new priorities emerge
  • Discussion and problem-solving skills regarding department practices and procedures
  • Ability to work on collaborative projects and independently

Preferred Knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Experience working in the sports and entertainment industry

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Lead and inspire a talented department of graphic designers and production coordinator
  • Collaborate with other internal departments, including, but not limited to marketing, production, sales, sponsorship, communications and HR
