Internship Overview
The Foundation Intern will assist with key projects aimed at strengthening our community impact, sustaining the Blue Jackets’ reputation as a strong corporate citizen, and supporting fundraising efforts for the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation. Key areas of focus include management of memorabilia inventory, in-game fundraising support, and event execution.

Primary Responsibilities
·       In-Game Fundraising
Support in-game fundraising efforts by assisting with game night auctions, jersey raffles, merchandise sales, and 50/50 raffles. Maintain and manage player memorabilia inventory. Assist with auction winner checkout and support partner organizations with their 50/50 volunteers.
·       Special Events
Support Foundation fundraising events, including The CannonBall, GEARage Sale, and Grant Reception. Responsibilities include attending planning meetings, procuring auction items, assisting with auction setup and display, and facilitating auctions during events.
·       Office Responsibilities
Assist with day-to-day operations, including shipping auction and merchandise items, supporting auction item selection, and maintaining organized inventory storage systems.

Cross-Departmental Support Opportunities
The Foundation Intern may have opportunities to assist other departments with select initiatives as needed.
·       Education Programs
Provide support for school-based initiatives such as Power Play Challenge, Student Achievers, and Hockey Scholar.
·       Hockey Programs
Provide support for grassroots hockey initiatives such as Get Out And Learn and Learn to Play.

Learning Objectives
  • Learn how to manage an online auction, facilitate auctions during games, and maintain an auction database 
  • Develop an understanding of nonprofit operations, including donor engagement and fundraising strategies 
  • Gain experience in event planning and execution 
  • Apply guest relations and customer service principles to enhance the fan and donor experience 
  • Build skills in database management with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and data integrity

Schedule & Commitment
  • 20–30 hours per week, including weekday office hours, evening and/or weekend game nights, and community events/appearances 
  • Internship timeline: September through the end of the season

Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in a four-year college or university 
  • Must receive college credit for the internship 
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) 
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
