The Carolina Hurricanes are seeking a hard-working, reliable and passionate individual with a strong interest in sports, live entertainment and production to join our team as a part-time seasonal entertainment assistant for the 2025–26 season. This position reports to the Director of Entertainment and works closely with members of the entertainment team to support all facets of in-game entertainment and fan engagement.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
  • Assist with the planning, setup, execution and teardown of all Carolina Hurricanes in-game entertainment elements and sponsorship activations, including:
    • On-ice promotions and contests
    • Photobooths and arena signage
    • Pre and post-game ceremonies, intermission activities and giveaways
    • Anthem singers, youth skaters, siren sounders and honor guard groups
  • Perform administrative tasks during regular office hours, such as:
    • Creating and maintaining spreadsheets and scripts
    • Responding to general inquiries on behalf of the entertainment department
    • Booking and coordination of honor guard groups
    • Communications to the promotional team
    • Assisting with creative content development
  • Support ideation and execution of in-game content, including video pieces, fan interactions, mascot skits and TV timeouts
  • Assist with game night execution, serving as a secondary stage manager to support promotional team duties and overall flow.
  • Manage and maintain prop and uniform inventory, ensuring proper storage and organization.
  • Act as a liaison for talent, contestants and guests, ensuring professional, positive and memorable experiences.
  • Represent the Carolina Hurricanes as a brand ambassador with enthusiasm and professionalism at all times.
  • Provide support to Stormy (team mascot) and the promotional team, as needed.
  • Assist with the setup and teardown of event elements, including DJ booth, lighting, props and mascot room, while performing physical and behind-the-scenes tasks essential to live event operations.
  • Support external events such as community appearances, ticketing events and watch parties as needed.
This is a seasonal, part-time position. Participation in the program does not guarantee future employment with the Carolina Hurricanes or Lenovo Center.
 
Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing or holding a degree in sports management, event production, entertainment, hospitality or a related field preferred.
  • One year of experience in live event production or entertainment is preferred but not required.
  • Must be available to work all home games (preseason through playoffs), arriving at least five hours before puck drop.
  • Flexible schedule required: nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Strong knowledge of hockey, the NHL and the Carolina Hurricanes is preferred.
  • Creative thinker who thrives in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and adapting to evolving team needs.
  • Strong time management, organization and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capable of using a variety of software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, to complete administrative and creative tasks.
  • Experience working with confidential information in a professional setting.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.    
Physical Requirements:
o   Ability to walk, stand and climb stairs for extended periods.
o   Comfortable working in cold indoor and hot outdoor environments.
o   Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
o   Ability to walk across ice surfaces.
o   Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer.
