The Carolina Hurricanes are seeking a passionate, creative, and community-focused Community Impact Coordinator to help elevate the work of the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation and the team’s broader outreach efforts. This role is key to sharing the stories of individuals, programs, and communities positively affected by the team's community involvement and philanthropic initiatives.

Working closely with the marketing, digital, and creative services teams, the Coordinator will develop multi-channel content that highlights the reach and the social impact of these efforts.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of sports, storytelling, and service—someone eager to connect fans, partners, and the wider community to the Hurricanes’ mission through strategic, engaging communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute Community Awareness Initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader community impact goals and the organization’s brand voice.
  • Tell powerful stories of impact by developing written, visual, and digital content that highlights how Foundation-funded programs and events make a difference in the lives of North Carolinians. Leverage social media, website content, newsletters, and other communication channels to highlight the community impact.
  • Create and edit multimedia and social media content, including short-form videos, reels, graphic packages, and photo stories, for platforms like Instagram, X, Facebook, and LinkedIn, to illustrate the Foundation’s mission, highlight grantee and partner impact, spotlight community stories, drive campaign participation, and showcase player involvement at events.
  • Package mission-driven narratives in formats that resonate with diverse audiences using content creation, social media strategy, photo/video editing 
  • Maintain a content calendar tied to grant milestones, player appearances, community activations, and Foundation events; coordinate with marketing for amplification and scheduling.
  • Capture and curate photo/short video assets at community events; collaborate with photographers, videographers, designers, and marketing team for post-production and distribution.
  • Oversee community drives (e.g., toy, military, book, pet supply, prescription take-back), including content planning and digital engagement strategies to maximize participation.
  • Assist in planning and executing all Carolina Hurricanes Foundation fundraising events, including the Canes 5K, Canes Gala, Alumni Game and others.
  • Support other community outreach programs such as hospital visits, Community Days, grant recipient visits, and coordination with community partners, all with content strategies in mind.
  • Fulfill community event-related commitments including in-kind donations and auction items.
  • Manage and grow in-game community awareness opportunities (e.g., concourse/plaza program with nonprofits).
  • Coordinate the organization's presence at local charity events (e.g., walks/runs).
  • Coordinate with marketing to optimize performance analytics for community content (e.g., engagement rates, reach, impressions) and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Support game-night activations, such as Foundation auction fulfillment, check presentations, and meet-and-greets, ensuring all are captured for content purposes. Manage in-game community visibility opportunities and digital signage, ensuring content is timely and professionally executed.
  • Other Foundation and community-related duties, as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • 1–3 years of experience in community relations, nonprofit programming, digital storytelling, or content production—preferably within sports, entertainment, or mission-driven brands.
  • A positive, outgoing attitude with a deep commitment to community impact and purpose-driven work.
  • Demonstrated experience in social media management and content production tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, CapCut, or similar platforms). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic photography skills including experience with DSLR camera systems and editing preferred
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms as tools to promote and amplify community impact. Ability to work with the marketing team to execute the strategies. Experience publishing on social platforms for a brand.
  • Proven ability to craft compelling written and visual content that communicates organizational values, drives engagement, and emotionally connects with audiences through authentic storytelling.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Passionate, reliable creator of exceptional experiences for supporters and community partners. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others, establish a rapport and build strong interpersonal relationships, and a team-first mentality. 
  • Availability and willingness to work extended hours, including nights and weekends as well as games and events as necessary.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must pass a criminal background check
