Game Day Operations Intern – 2026–2027 Season

Team: Twin City Thunderbirds (FPHL)
Location: Winston-Salem, NC (Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Arena)
Position Type: Internship (Seasonal / Part-Time)

Position Summary

The Twin City Thunderbirds are seeking motivated, enthusiastic, and reliable individuals to join our Game Day Operations team for the 2026–2027 season. This internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced professional sports environment, with a focus on live event execution, fan engagement, and game presentation.

Interns will play an integral role in delivering a high-quality, family-friendly game-day experience for fans, sponsors, and community partners.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setup and breakdown of arena operations before and after games
  • Execute in-game promotions, contests, and fan engagement activities
  • Support game presentation elements, including timing, scripts, and entertainment features
  • Coordinate and assist promotional teams, volunteers, and mascot activities
  • Provide excellent customer service and interact positively with fans
  • Assist with sponsor activations, giveaways, and community engagement initiatives
  • Help manage the overall flow and organization of game-day operations
  • Support pre-game, in-game, and post-game logistics
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Game Operations staff
Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college/university program (sports management, marketing, communications, or related field preferred)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
  • Passion for sports and live event operations preferred
Requirements

  • Availability for the majority of Thunderbirds home games (evenings, weekends, and holidays)
  • Ability to work flexible hours and long event days
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
  • Reliable transportation to and from the arena
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with fans, staff, and partners

Duration & Commitment

  • Interns are expected to work most home games (approximately 28 regular-season games; flexibility may be considered)
