Overview: The Topeka Scarecrows Hockey Team seeks a motivated, high-energy individual to lead our sales team and drive group sales, season ticket sales, and sponsorship revenue. In addition, this role will oversee game operations and entertainment as well as merchandise. Position Summary: The General Manager will be responsible for all sales efforts, with a particular focus on building and maintaining relationships in the Topeka community. Key areas of responsibility include group sales, season ticket sales, and sponsorship acquisition. The ideal candidate will be comfortable generating new business through direct sales efforts (cold calling and in-person meetings) and will support existing client relationships. Additionally, this role involves managing 3 salespeople and ensuring the successful fulfillment of all sponsorship agreements. In addition, the general manager will oversee the Director of Ticket Operations and the Director of Community Relations, interns and part-time personnel.

Essential Functions:
  1. Sales Generation – Achieve personal and team sales goals, primarily through new business development (cold calls, in-person meetings, and networking).
  2. Leadership – Demonstrate leadership by motivating sales staff, contributing innovative ideas, and fostering an environment of continuous growth for the Topeka organization.
  3. Community Engagement – Actively engage with the local community, set face-to-face meetings, attend relevant events, and develop strategies to build relationships with local businesses.
  4. Client Management – Ensure high levels of customer service and satisfaction for all corporate accounts, including sponsorship and ticket sales fulfillment.
  5. Sales Standards Fulfillment – Meet established standards for personal and team sales efforts and contribute to organizational revenue growth.
  6. Customer Service Excellence – Provide exceptional service to all Zydeco fans and corporate clients.
  7. Data Management – Support database management and analysis efforts as needed to enhance the growth of the team’s fan base and revenue potential.
  8. Documentation and Paperwork – Handle all client-related documentation, including contracts and proof of performance, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  1. Educational Background – bachelor’s degree preferred, with 3-5 years of experience in sports or equivalent industry sales.
  2. Sales Drive – Demonstrated ambition to succeed in a sales environment.
  3. Achievement Orientation – Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals (both individual and team).
  4. Technical Proficiency – Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint and comfortable with CRM and sales-related software.
  5. Leadership and Communication – Strong ability to inspire, motivate, and communicate with team members and clients effectively.
  6. Self-Motivation and Team Collaboration – Effective at working independently as well as within a collaborative team
