Are you looking for an opportunity to work in professional hockey? The Port Huron Prowlers are seeking a detail oriented and motivated equipment manager to join our team. This position involves irregular or extended hours, but offers the unprecedented opportunity to work closely with the players and staff of a professional hockey organization. The right candidate will play an integral and foundational role in the teams success.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Selfless, self directed, highly motivated and eager to improve.
- Organized with great time management and communication skills.
- Proficiency in skate sharpening and sewing.
- Maintain thorough and accurate records.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, nights, holidays and travel with the team on road trips.
- Ability to sharpen skates.
- Ability to modify and repair equipment.
- Ability to sew.
- Must represent the organization in a positive manner. This position will work directly with the players, management, arena staff, league, and the public on a regular basis.
- Must have valid drivers license.
Game & Practice Operations
- Locker room management: Oversee complete setup of home locker room and player benches for all practices and games.
- Visitor and Officials Hospitality: Prepare visitor and referee locker rooms for home games in strict accordance with league rules and standards.
- Facilities Maintenance: Maintain impeccable cleanliness and organization of locker room, offices and equipment room.
- Inventory: Ensure essential supplies (sticks, pucks, tape, towels, medical supplies, etc.) and backup gear are fully stocked and readily available during games and practices.
Equipment Maintenance and Repair
- Sharpen, and maintain player and goalie skates.
- Repair, modify, and maintain all player gear, uniforms, and protective equipment.
- Ability to sew on player name bars with provided sewing machine.
Logistics and Travel
- Road Trip Preparation: Manage the travel checklist, meticulously packing the team travel boxes with all necessary uniforms, equipment, tools, and contingency supplies.
- Logistics: Coordinate with the opposing team’s EQ locker room access upon arrival at destination. Set up the room for morning skate.
- Laundry Operations: Manage daily laundry, uniform care, and team gear rotations both at home and on the road.
Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience. Final compensation packages are flexible and will be adjusted based on candidate logistics, including local vs. relocation status and whether company-provided housing is included.
