The Danbury Hat Tricks are a professional hockey team based in Danbury, CT and compete in the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL). Since their founding in 2019, the 2023 Commissioner's Cup Champions have brought thrilling, fast-paced, and hard-hitting hockey to the Danbury Ice Arena, earning a reputation for their competitive spirit, electric atmosphere and strong community ties. The team is dedicated to providing an unforgettable game-day experience for fans of all ages while proudly representing the city of Danbury.
Off the ice, the Hat Tricks are committed to fostering connections within the local community through outreach programs with schools, businesses and charities. Position Overview: Media Intern
Interns will be introduced to the media operations and content production aspects of a professional hockey team. This role is ideal for students who are passionate about sports, media, and storytelling. Participants should have flexible schedules to attend assigned office hours, game days, and special events to maximize their learning experience.
Through hands-on work, interns will develop skills in social media management, photography, videography, video editing, graphic design, broadcasting, and media relations.
Potential Responsibilities:
Interns may have the opportunity to serve in multiple roles, including:
- Social Media Contributor – Assist with game-day and daily content for team platforms.
- On-Air Talent – Participate in broadcasts or media features.
- Photographer/Videographer/Editor – Capture and edit photos and videos for social and web.
- Graphic Designer – Create digital graphics for social media and game presentations.
- Camera Operator – Assist with video production and live streaming.
- Statistician – Track in-game stats for broadcast and media usage.
- Conduct interviews with players/coaches for broadcasts and media content.
- Contribute to game-day notes and content materials.
- Assist in broadcast production and other media-related tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or graduate student with interest in sports media, broadcasting, or related field.
- Strong creative, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of ice hockey rules (preferred, not required).
- Previous experience in sports media (preferred, not required).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
Schedule & Hours:
- Duration: One semester (with option to extend).
- Home Game Days:
- Fridays: 6:30 PM – End of game (~10 PM)
- Saturdays: 6:00 PM – End of game (~9:30 PM)
- Sundays: 2:00 PM – End of game (~5:30 PM)
- Additional office hours and special events available based on intern availability and school credit requirements.
Compensation & Credit:
- Unpaid internship, eligible for college credit upon advisor approval.
