About Us
The Danbury Hat Tricks are a professional hockey team based in Danbury, CT and compete in the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL). Since their founding in 2019, the 2023 Commissioner's Cup Champions have brought thrilling, fast-paced, and hard-hitting hockey to the Danbury Ice Arena, earning a reputation for their competitive spirit, electric atmosphere and strong community ties. The team is dedicated to providing an unforgettable game-day experience for fans of all ages while proudly representing the city of Danbury.

Off the ice, the Hat Tricks are committed to fostering connections within the local community through outreach programs with schools, businesses and charities. By developing top-tier hockey talent and growing the sport in the region, the Hat Tricks aim to bring the community together and deliver entertainment that leaves a lasting impact.

Position Overview: Game Day Operations Intern
Game Day Operations Interns are essential to creating an incredible game-day atmosphere. From managing the arena setup to running in-game promotions and merchandise sales, you’ll play a key role in making every Hat Tricks home game an unforgettable experience for our fans.

Responsibilities:
  • Arena Setup & Breakdown
    • Assist in preparing the arena for each home game, including concourse tables, signage, sponsorship activations, autograph stations, and promotional displays.
    • Tear down and store all items after the game.
  • Ticketing & Fan Experience
    • Help with ticket scanning at entry points and provide excellent customer service to fans throughout the arena.
    • Address fan questions and ensure a welcoming environment.
  • In-Game Promotions & Entertainment
    • Coordinate and execute intermission activities, contests, and sponsored promotions.
    • Select fans for on-ice games and help manage timing during breaks.
    • Announce promotions and engage fans in the stands.
  • Merchandise Management
    • Set up and operate the merchandise stand on game nights.
    • Manage sales transactions, monitor inventory, and ensure products are displayed effectively.
  • Sponsor Activation & Partnerships
    • Assist with sponsor tables, displays, and branding placements throughout the arena.
    • Support fulfillment of sponsor promotions during the game.
  • General Event Support
    • Participate in game-day logistics, including credential distribution, volunteer coordination, and other assigned tasks to ensure smooth operations.

Schedule & Hours:
  • Season: Mid-October through late April (playoffs possible).
  • Game Days: Fridays (7:30 PM) and Saturdays (7:00 PM)
  • Arrival: Pre-game through post-game.
  • Additional opportunities include flexible office hours and participation in community events for extra experience.

Compensation & Credit:
  • Unpaid internship, eligible for college credit upon advisor approval.
  • Gain hands-on experience in sports business operations, event management, and fan engagement!

Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Passion for sports and the sports industry.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as dictated by the game schedule.
  • Proactive, reliable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
