About the Columbus River Dragons
The Columbus River Dragons, members of the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) since 2019, are a professional hockey team located in Columbus, Georgia. We pride ourselves on providing an elite, high-energy hockey experience for our fans while maintaining a strong culture of professionalism, accountability, and team-first values behind the scenes.
Position Summary
The Columbus River Dragons are looking for a Hockey Statistician Intern to help track and manage player and team data throughout the 2025-26 FPHL season. This is an on-site role that requires attendance at all home games. You'll work closely with the coaching staff and others to support performance analysis and team strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend all home games to track advanced statistics (zone entries/exits, shot location, time on ice, etc.)
- Input postgame data into spreadsheets or tracking systems
- Assist with preparing weekly statistical breakdowns for coaches and players
- Maintain an organized stats database for ongoing season analysis
Ideal Qualifications
- Strong understanding of hockey stats, both traditional and advanced
- Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets; bonus if familiar with Tableau, R, or Python
- Dependable and professional on-site, especially on game days
- Good communicator, responsive via Slack, email, or shared platforms
